oh sh!t that would be a long drive!! Some day!!! The ninjette will kiss some Cali asphalt at some point in her life.

Hopefully I land an internship out there. That's my goal for this school year.

you do realize that saturday and sunday is CVMA race weekend... as in you need to be a licensed racer to participate... and all the racers are already going to be there for that weekend... and most will be there for friday open practice... i mean... doing anything else just wouldnt make sense....

Why does this stuff have to be so expensive? Since I only spent 4 months in Afghanistan I am still saving for my ZX-14... I just don't know

Try the track day and you wont want the zx-14. Just a racebike, stat. You gotta come out at least once man and this is your perfect opportunity!

I highly doubt I "won't want the 14"... don't get me wrong I love my little ninjette... but once you've ridden a ZX-14... everything else is just, well... not a 14

the 14 is just over-compensation. Make it up by learning to pass a literbike on the track with a 250 so show them how man you are.

@Rexbo, don't get me wrong... I want to learn to race! I just also want a bigger bike to compensate for the fact that I'm 6'2" and 220lbs. In all retrospec... I probably should have never gotten a 250... but now that I've had it for 2 years I actually love it! I just don't know if I want to spend the money that I'm saving for my 14 on track fees and track gear and transportation for getting there. I'm definitely interested... just not sure how much I want to delay getting my bigger bike

Trust us, spend one time on the track and it will be entirely worth the delay and you will be a far better rider (not that you're not skilled already)

As far as transport, maybe alex can help you there? All you need is gear (which is good to have and you can use off the track as well) and probably some nice tires and extra cash for some light eating. You have 3 months to save up and acquire supplies!

Dustin if you thought canyons were fun you're gonna **** your pants after a session at the track on the 250 with some friends. The ninja is a little bit small physical size wise yeah, but it doesn't matter so much at 85mph full lean dragging knee through the bowl

Enlighten me

Here's how I see it (having never ridden a supersport) the zx6r has more power than you will ever be able to use on the street, the zx10r brings that power throughout the entire rev range (similar to my ninja 1000 but with more torque and higher revs) and the zx14 just kinda gets heavier without really giving you any more usable power. The zx14 is more limited in the twisties than the zx10 right? And really on the street are you going to be able to go faster on one over the other? Too me it seems like the zx14 = more $$$ for more weight. No doubt in my mind its a fun ass bike but what's the point of getting a zx14 over a zx10?

And yes I would really like to know what makes the zx14 a better choice over the zx10?

We didn't say it was better; i'd rather have a zx-10r. The 14 is just a great bike, surprisingly light and flickable once you get moving. It's comfortable and has gobs of power that never feels overwhelming. I really quite enjoyed riding it and I'll never bag on it again.

Lets see, I actually dont like the new 6r, its pretty disappointing compared to my 636 power wise, however the new ones have much better suspension then mine does. The 05/06 636 was there most popular bike, this is why they are bringing the 636 back for 2012, . The 14 is nice for cruising, I would love to have one as a commuter (granted I would own a Z1000 first lol) it cruises at retardedly low RPMs and has power through the entire range, even in 6th gear. For the track the 14 would be a pos imo, its big, bulky, heavy, and the extra power is useless. The 10 is an amazing bike also, but again I have an issue with its power band, there is nothing down low, my 636 is much tourqier in the lower RPMs then the 10, however, get the 10 screaming and hold the **** on

Really? I'd think it would be similar to the way my 1000 responds (or maybe its just tuned different???) but I can be at 1500 rpms in 4th and accelerate away smoothly and with plenty of power. Even in 6th gear today I found it extremely easy to overtake cars in the twisties @ 40-50mph right below 4k rpms

You sort of reaffirmed what I thought about the zx14

I'll probably get talked into this event no matter what anyway... just need to get the essentials and figure out the details.

As for the 14 over a 10... my big reason is comfort. As fun as the 10 is... it lacks in comfort. The 14 is like driving a Cadillac... it's extremely comfortable and a better bike for 2up riding. Still has all the power you would ever need and then some. Still just as ridable in the corners as it is a really balanced bike. I too thought it would feel bulky and slugish until I rode it.

The 6 is too small for a 6'2" 220lbs rider. I felt really cramped after 30 mins on it. I know that sounds strange as I ride the 250 without issues... but the difference in riding position from the 250 to the 6 is night and day. The 10 felt more comfortable... but it's still a SS and after a prolonged ride it feels tiresome. It also doesn't have any comfort for a passenger. The 14 is just an all around bike. Call me crazy, but that's my justification.

@Kevin2109, I've been seriously considering getting a 636... I wouldn't have to wait... I could afford one right now, cash in hand. I just fear that I would inevitably be dissappointed that I didn't wait and get the 14.

What are you thoughts? You've obviously had yours for quite some time... are you completely happy or are you planning something different as well?

@alex.s, you would have room to tow a 3rd bike on the trailer? That may make things that much more tempting... I know I want to try the track... just haven't been able to take the plunge... this will probably be my chance. Although the 9th is my anniversary... not sure the wife is gonna go for it

@Jiggles, I couldn't afford one out right... and I know that wouldn't make me happy in the long run. I could drop like $3K on a 636... it would cost me well into the $6K range for a 1000. I could get the 14 for about $8K-$9K... so if I was gonna spend the money for a 1000... I would just wait and get the 14.
