Total solar eclipse for the USA in 2017.
Anyone interested in these? It will be the first since 1991-Hawaii. The first in the lower 48 since 1979-Northwest states. There have been annular eclipses since then, but not a total. And this will be the first to sweep from the Atlantic to the Pacific since 1918! I am planning on going to Missouri. That's the closest in the totality path to me-about 750 miles. Here's a link. http://eclipse2017.org/ECLIPSE2017_main.HTM

I thought there was a total solar eclipse (or maybe close to it) in May 1994. I was in elementary school and I remember them having us go outside with these special dodads of sorts so we could see it and not damage our eyes.
So does that mean that we are going to survive the end of the world on Dec 21, 2012? Regardless if I remember I'll probably make time to see it. |

Did you see the eclipse on the 20th? I don't know if you could see it but it was pretty cool. The moon turned a nice reddish orange color

We couldn't see the lunar eclipse... Southern Cali was a pit of rain and clouds during it.

So any state out of the band will be an annular eclipse not a total?

I got to see the lunar eclipse on the 20th. It was overcast, but fortunately the clouds were moving fast. Every now and then a clear spot could go by in front of the moon.
