Comes with two sets of bodywork, white and black. Missing only tiny odds and ends here and there. When I assemble it with black body, it should look like this!!!
With white body, it'll look like this! |

the old 86-87 vintage 250 way cool!
Congrats! Where do you guys find the energy? Nowadays at my age, restorations are out of the question, though still active. current project for a friend, resurrecting a '10 Triumph 675 Daytona electrically bastardized by irresponsible previous owners. I'll spare posting pics, don't want to hijack your thread @DannoXYZ but if you saw what these kids did to the main harness and peripherals, you'd puke. Enjoy your resto of the 250, I'll be following....what exact year is it?

Black and red for the Win! One of my favorite color schemes and styles of the old 250. Almost a lean sleek cafe look to it. 1986?

Yeah, gruesome stuff like hacked up wiring twisted together by hand and taped over? Rat's nest maze of wiring tossed together? It's an '87. Was running supposedly and completely disassembled by racer to turn into track bike. Some basic safety-wiring was started on radiator. Then he lost interest and sold it to another guy who also lost interest. Now it's mine, all mine, buwaahahaahh!!! Came with new tyres and tonnes of extra stuff for racing like clip-ons, rearsets, extra sprockets, belly pan, etc. I'm going to build up completely stock to start and see what it's like first. I have doubts about that industrial-looking rear fender... Last futzed with by DannoXYZ; June 23rd, 2019 at 12:04 AM. |

The kids added bling lighting, cut and disabled the cooling fan, the sidestand switch, other stuff. Used *wire nuts*....clumped, taped over in giant, near fist sized clumps. Mis-routing started at the main harness and continued with runs going up, down, around stuff. You'd have to see it to believe it. i've got a huge pile of electrical crap I removed...hence I've named this Triumph "the Pile". A fun, challenging project nonetheless, my bud the owner understands , supports, is not "pushing me" to quickly finish. There is so much stuff missing and lost, we await parts orders. Another 10-12 days....fork service and other stuff yet to complete. Good luck, I'll be following your progress.

Good find!
Remember when the new guy came in here with a pristine '86 and wanted to turn it into a race bike? Numerous member (myself included) suggested that he find another donor and leave the amazing survivor as is. He didn't come back... |

A pristine 86 would be something special.
An 86 in several boxes... well we admire your enthusiasm and look forward to the results.

While looking for documentation on 1st-gen '86-87 version, I found cool 1986 Cycle World test article.
