The many modes of motorcycling..

Motorcycling is a highly varied sport. Whether you are pushing the envelope at the track, hitting 90-foot triples in motocross, adventure riding across continents, or simply commuting to work on your ninjette.

Since swinging my leg over an XR70 on my eighth birthday I've found myself attracted to more and more varieties of this great hobby. Trail riding in Missouri, canyon riding in Colorado, motocross tracks, red rocks in Utah, track days on sport bikes, and riding across Vietnam.

Still I feel I have only scratched the surface; many motorcycle dreams are yet to be fulfilled. The big one on my mind these days is planning an eventual adventure tour from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.

What kinds of motorcycling have you done in your life? What types of two-wheeled adventures do you still dream about?

A high point for me each year is the week-long 2-stroke meet at Deals Gap, NC. For the last two years my daughter has gone with me. A week of nothing to do but ride in those mountains is a blast. Next week I'm hoping to camp at Meadows of Dan, VA and ride the Back of the Dragon, route 16 between Marion and Tazewell. Anyone want to go?

My grandpa got me started early. On previous version of Vespa, he had built wood platform so I'd be able to see and reach bars.

Hi, Thanks ! My gearing was 15T front x 33T rear. Very tall but it does help deliver the ultra high fuel economy needed to be competitive. It's too tall to efficiently use unless the moto is streamlined. I've found 15T/37T works well for more conventional bodywork.

It can get really serious. Not to take away from Greenaero's accomplishments, because they are substantial, but check this out:

Sounds encouraging, thanks. I'm heading out tomorrow and meeting a friend who lives in Appomattox, VA. The campground is plenty big, in case anyone else wants to go.

Over 30 years ago I had the original small bike that could, RZ350. I would hunt 600 hurricanes and ninjas and leave them in a cloud of blue 2 stroke smoke. They would catch up at the next stop light and say "What the hell is that thing?"

I had it for 5 years. Now that part that burns me up inside - I sold it so I could a hot new super fast... (gulp) 486 computer.

Many bikes have come and gone in my life but I never had one quite like that. I also never had hair quite like that again either. Lol.

Great question and topic of discussion! There is so much more I want to do but I've done quite a bit since throwing a leg over a motorcycle 17 years ago at the age of 24. Highlights.

Coaching with the California Superbike School for the past 14 years all over the USA and also in Spain.
* CSS teaches in dozens of countries and my bucket list of places to coach include South Africa, India, Australia, Poland, and more.....

Racing AMA- Amazing 2 years of pushing the envelope at the highest level. Wish I started riding at 5 years old!
*currently race mini bikes locally

Tour/Track time with Leod Escapes in The Italian Alps, Germany and Sachsenring: EPIC TRIP!!
http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/ri...h-leod-escapes

Multiple trips to From BC to California and other US destinations with good friends.

Texas Tornado Bootcamp- AWESOME!!!

Rich Oliver Mystery School!- So much fun!

Motocross (I Suck), Trail riding (fun but I don't get to do it enough)- would love to do some good off road trips including camping with the entire family.

*Teaching the kids to ride!! My son is 8 and road-races a DRZ70. WE just took him to the moto track for the first time in 2 years and he was sending the jumps huge! (yikes and awesome at the same time) AND just taught my 6 year old daughter to ride on a PW50 and she loved it.

*May be heading to Australia this December for another Leod Escapes tour

Moto journalism for multiple publications Love writing stories and sharing experiences with people. Such an awesome group of people that I get to work with and interact with.

So many cool experiences and so many more on the list. I just wanna ride, ride, ride!!!
