250r wheel on 650r... bad idea?
08 250r 17" wheel with 130/90 tire (130/70 stock), 09 650r 17" wheel (160/60 stock). Stock chain/sprockets both.
This would just be for a day or two until I get proper sized tires for the 650. Tire barely fit the 250r because of the height. Am I gonna have any issues with the wheel or tire? Getting my tools out now so if I'm making a mistake, tell me quick. lol. Thanks, guys. |

adouglas - I am that hard-up, bike's been sitting for days. Was supposed to get a set of half-day-used track tires from a riding buddy basically for free but he had to leave town the day the 650r blew. Can't take it anymore. Must ride... or try, at least. Gotta take the wheel of anyway.

sprockets won't match, axle isn't proper size, brakes prob wouldn't fit, problem, problem, ....

The logic of putting a new wheel from a different bike entirely on because of a blown tire is like throwing away your shoes and wearing someone else's 3 size smaller shoes because your shoelace broke on one shoe. Fourth, again if the reason is your tire blew and you're now thinking of putting 250 rear on the 650, it won't work. It's the wrong size. Last bit of advice, as much as riding is awesome, have patience. If you jump to rash decisions when it comes to really anything, especially motorcycles, it's going to hurt somewhere. |
