so i laid down my bike

hey all I'm a new rider out here in Hawaii. i took a turn wrong, still not really sure what happened, and i laid my bike down at about 10-15 mph. it landed on its right side and now I can't get it to start. its been a few days since the crash. it worked immediately after so i rode it down the street a little ways to get out of traffic, since it was a blind corner. after I stopped and got my **** back together i couldn't get it to start again. lights will come on for a little while. when i hit the ignition button it won't do a thing. the bike is in neutral, the shut off engine button is set so that it will turn on. what is my next step?

What do you mean the lights will come on "for a little while"? Do they eventually fade out or something? Maybe you ruptured the battery. It's under your seat or perhaps you've created a short in the fall. Sounds like you don't have enough juice to crank the motor.

If you did rupture the battery (doesn't sound likely) you'd probably smell it. If you've ever bought one of those batteries where you need to pour the electrolyte in yourself, you'd know that it stinks pretty bad. It's worth wearing gloves when checking, though.

Might have busted switch on right handlebar. Hot-wire it and see if it behaves differently.
