The worst of the worst situation

I'm not sure if the Ninjette crowd knows of a Florida bike builder named Billy Lane but he is big down here. Billy was driving his pickup, Billy was drunk, Billy crossed the double lines on the road and hit a motorcyclists head on and killed the guy, Billy does no jail time.

I don't care who he is or how famous he is. When you kill someone with a vehicle (whether drunk or not) you deserve to go to jail. To many drivers get away with murder because of the affordability of slick lawyers.

If he (or anyone) did this to one of my kids they would need the services of a carpenter, not an attorney.

The funny thing is if it would of happened to a member of his family he would fight the system tooth and nail to put that person in jail.

yeah, i heard about that.... wasn't that a good 2 years ago or so?

sad situation. sucks that it happened and i dunno how he managed to stay out of jail. kinda lame. i heard that he kinda fell off the map after that though. something along the lines of the motorcycle word kinda shutting him out.

What a dope. He should man up and take responsibility for his actions. Especially because it was a member of the community which he claims to be so dedicated to that was a victim.

The family needs to take him to civil court and sue him for everything he is worth. Make him pay one way or onother. This makes me sick.

Store is there, not open to the public. You can get stuff online but I wouldn't send him a dime (even though his T-Shirts will now be collector items). He already settle the civil suit with the family. His house is in foreclosure. His life is in the shitter (where it belongs).

This did happen a few years ago but he is just accepting the plea deal next tuesday. He cut off his dreads for court. The guy was so good at what he did too. I can never understand why these people with so much money can't get someone else to drive them around ( at least when they drink). That's why I had two kids (they have to drive when I drink, which is rare lately). I'm am looking to pick up the pace as soon as my liver heals.

He's supposedly looking at nine years (cut a deal). Still not enough time if you ask me.

"But under the terms of the plea deal, Eisenmenger said prosecutors will drop the DUI manslaughter charge. Instead, they will seek a nine-year prison term for the vehicular homicide charge, a term Lane is eligible for under state sentencing guidelines when his prior criminal record is considered.

Eisenmenger will seek a sentence that calls for no time in prison."

Eisenmenger is the defense attorney.

Maybe he can serve probation at an ER.

Maybe he can rot in hell. You, me, or any other Joe citizen without deep pockets would have already been put under the jail.

we were just talking about that at lunch today. the GM of the new Cowboys stadium went to jail this weekend after getting in a car wreck and failing the sobriety test after the first ever event at the new stadium... stupid move. par for the course as far as the cowboys go though

seems like he knew he'd be drinking on opening night after building the new stadium. would make sense for him to arrange for a driver.

Drunk drivers are a real menace. One ran over my wife while she was bicycling years ago, breaking a bunch of bones. Nothing happened to him. My father was T-boned by a drunk, totalling his brand new 1964 Pontiac GP. He went to the hospital and the drunk went free. Here in Maine, drunks rule. They get two days in the slammer, a $500. dollar fine, and a 90 day suspension. Of course, they keep on driving because we have so few police officers to patrol such a big state. Cyclists, motor and pedal, really need to be vigilant.

It has less to do with overworked cops than it has to do with activist judges, as well as society as a whole needs to stop tolerating it for it to change. Unfortunately, that's not ever going to happen.

Two eyes for an eye, and a bullet through the head!

I would call that a pattern of misconduct.

He's not a politician, so he is vulnerable. We will have to wait until next Tuesday to see what really happens.
