Getting a dual sport soon.

hey all,

Around tax time this year (July) I think I will be getting me a second hand dual sport. I have only ever ridden a dirt bike a few times at my parents farm (sisters bike) But really want to get some experience in the dirt.

Not looking at buying something new or to shinny as I know I'm going to drop it quite a lot.

I'm a short man, around 170cm (5 foot 7 ish) so I need to take that into account.

Here in Australia I noticed A lot of second hand Honda XR400's going cheap. Around the $3000 mark (us $2600 or so)

Anyone have experience with these machines?

Or any riders around my height bang around on a dualy they can recommend?

As always cheers guys and gals.

Rubber side down.

I don't know much about that particular model but I do know that honda makes consistently good motorcycles, they're rarely the best in class but you also can't go wrong with one. In my experience the 400/450 is dominated by yamaha competitively but for someone who isn't racing motocross I don't really see anything being wrong with having a model that was made with the focus on being easy to maintain with a high build quality.

I think in the US the XR400 was not normally titled as a DOT legal vehicle but unsure of other areas. I know the smaller XRs are some of the most durable little suckers out there. I personally would like to pick up an XR400 myself.
