Arrow My bike is going nuts!!

I bought this bike (my first bike) a couple months ago. I haven't had much time to ride it. I'm pretty sure the battery is dead. But I am able to get it going by push starting it. Last week when I push started it, it was working fine after it warmed up. Last night when I push started it the tachometer stopped working and started acting crazy. I checked the battery connections and they are solid. Then I randomly tried switching from low to high beams and the bike went NUTS!!

Check out this video, what do you think is going on?!!

Link to original page on YouTube.

It's a 2008 Ninja 250r with about 12,000 miles. No recent tune ups.

Does this mean I'll need to buy a new battery?

If so.. Which do you recommend?

running it like that with the battery dead likely has lined the internal contact terminals with crystals so even if it was simply low on water it likely would not hold very much charge anymore. sounds like its time for a new battery, but i'm wondering why the battery died in the first place, just age?

I'm not totally sure why the battery died, it's probably the original battery from the manufacturer when it was made (2008). But it was fine when I first bought the bike. However the guy I bought it from was riding it every day. I have been riding it very sparingly and thats probably the reason why it died. I'm going to buy a new battery and a battery maintainer.
I plan on buying this maintainer: http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-XM1...dp/B004EI6A8K/

Do you (or ANYONE) have any suggestions on batteries?

thanks!

Update: It was definitely the battery. I replaced it with a Yusawhatever and it works like a charm. I hooked up a battery charger too so should be good for a long while!!

This is the charger I got, as recommended on this website. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EI6A8K/

Thanks for the help!
