front stand what am i doing wrong???????????
Hi guys,
Have a 2008 ninja 250 and i have tried 3 front stands that go into the bottom triple tree so i can raise the front to remove the forks as i need to do fork seals. Are you guys having to remove the front fairings? All 3 lifts it hits the fairing just under the headlight. Am i doing something wrong? There a different way? Thanks |

When I lift the front using a pitbull triple tree stand, I believe it does touch the plastic, but it doesn't put too much pressure on it. It is still lifting from the triple tree itself, and the plastic moves slightly. No need to remove any fairings or make any other adjustments.
(P.S. - you may want to edit your location to remove your street address )

Not an unusual problem.
Some stands will let you raise the pin in the mount to gain a little clearance. You need to decide if it's putting enough force on the fairings to damage them, or not provide secure lifting, or it's just minimal contact. |

Angle when lifting makes difference too. I find if you don’t shove pin all way in, front arm angles up and touches fairing in front. If i reach in and shove pin all way in first, it makes arm level and parallel to fairing. Barely touches and pushes on it slightly when lifting

Seen it a number of times, a few rubber washers may be of assistance in your case.
Good luck!

My GSX-R was like this. The pin would not clear the fairing as the stand was inserted.
I dealt with it in one of two ways: 1) Lift the front a bit with my free hand, pulling up on the fairing. It doesn't take that much force to extend the forks enough to get the stand positioned properly. 2) Pick up the stand and rotate it to one side (rotation around the long axis of the the bike) to get the pin in under the fairing. Once it's in there, put the wheels back on the floor and proceed.
