Valve adjustment

Yes it's on a gsxr 600, yes I tried their forum; they are assholes and no help at all lol.

So i come here, because i enjoy this site.

Yes I googled it, i don't have an owners manual.
Google doesn't provide me with input, only answers.

My bike has roughly 38k, i emailed the previous owner, don't believe she was original owner, however she said something about her dad owning it, anyways.
She said she never did anything with the valves.

***Question:
My question is, should I just get it done? Or try to get her to find out if she knows if her father did it?
2) Should i just get the valve adjustment? Or as the shop called it "The complete package" with oil, filter, and what ever else that may include?

P.S I bought it at abouuuut 32k

"the complete package" means "we're going to rape you out the ass with our COMPLETE PACKAGE (including the sack!) and charge everything we can"

do the work yourself.

Well, you could always just buy the workshop service manual or the haynes, etc. manual and do it yourself. Otherwise, not sure what the dealership would charge to do a valve check/adjustment. Most likely it's valves are adjusted via shims. And being a 4 valve per cylinder and 4 cylinder, it could be expensive. As for it ever having been done, doubtful - most likely not, and if you check it yourself or have a good dealership do it you'll know it's been done and won't have to worry about it anymore. Would you rather keep riding it, not knowing whether it was done or not, and then mess up the engine or head because it needed the valves adjusted and then you're going to out a bunch of money to fix the engine...

LOL thank you.
So paying 350$ for them to do it vs a noob who never has is also a bad idea?

Complete package was 800ish

ONLY V.A was 350ish

Ask them whats included in the "complete Package" then see if you can do all of those things yourself, and maybe just have them do the valves only if your uncomfortable doing them yourself right now.

at an honest shop, valve adjust should cost around $150. (labor only, no parts outside of exchanging shims -- if they can do valve adjusts, they have a large stockpile of shims already. shims cost at most $10 for a set) oil change with the valve adjust should cost about $35 for the cost of oil and filter. no labor charge since its done at the same time as the valve adjust, it is only one extra bolt. coolant flush should be included in the valve adjust as they need to remove the cooling system to get to the valves. full brake service (pads and fluid) should be about 80$ including parts. most mechanics will lube and properly tension your cables as a complimentary service. it shouldn't cost more than $10 if they're cockbags and wont just do it for free.

Thanks guys!

That manual link was also very useful! Much appreciated.

I will do brake pads myself; it is good practice and isn't too complicated.
