AGATT, my gear never really gets in the way to NOT wear it.

Helmets:

Fulmer D4 Apache

Rockhard Hustler

Gloves:

Icon Merc Long, and Icon Merc Shorty.

Jacket:

Yoshimura AF-C

Pants:

Icon Insulated Denim Pants

Boots:

Urban Pipeline Jarrett Casual Oxford Boots
(AKA Work boots)

My work boots may be the most lacking gearwise, but they did save my foot a few times.

At work recently I slipped on ice and had a beer keg land on the inside of my leg; from foot to knee. Thick ass rubber sole prevented any broken bones in my feet, which I would imagine I had a good 90% of having. Just ended up with lots of bruising.

And another time while riding, I lowsided and once again the thick rubber sole prevented my foot from getting hurt, this time under the bike. It even kept my bike's fairings and exaust off the ground preventing any damage to the bike. Got up and rode off with a rashed bar end and clutch lever.

They also look bad ass.

Knee armor has a bad habit of moving around but I'm thinking that may be because of the size on me (I can never find good fitting pants).
Knee pads moving around or not though, I'd personally recommend getting separate knee pads that strap around the knee itself anyways.

Here's my gear!
Brand new last year (2008) is My 2pc Teknic Vixen Suit, I can't seem to find it on the Teknicgear web site, but here's a link to a store:

http://www.revzilla.com/product/tekn...iece-race-suit

LOVE this suit, It actually fits me, I've had a huge problem finding leathers the right size, but these are excellent, I'm just 5'3" so sizing is always an issue, Ladies if you can find it, grab it, this one is a size 8.

I also have a Joe Rocket Mesh jacket for the summer, I can't remember the name of it, I got it a few years ago.

And I have an OLDER Joe rocket retro jacket from when I was a passenger only, LOL, Then when I moved up I wanted my own snazzy suit, no more mismatched jacket and pants for me! LOL

Boots: I have Black Sidi Vertebrae, they are about 8 yrs old, mens, but like size 39 to fit my foot LOL

Gloves: I got a new pair of Alpinestar last year, Stella SP-3.

Helmet: Arai Signet/e Gyphon, It's a few years old as well, But I love it and I have no Issues with it, Maybe next year I'll get a new one.

And I can not stand the thought of riding without the gear, even when I had a Scooter , I still wore my leather jacket boots ,gloves and Helmet LOL

Which helmet?
Fulmer is a brand that only deals through offline dealerships.
Rockhard is a line of O'Neal helmets. http://rockhardhelmets.com/

Check out Newenough's closeout section and see if you come across anything of interest. If you do, it's usually at a great savings plus they are a great company to work with!

for the track:
I'm too tall and skinny to fit any off the rack stuff, so i had to get a custom fitted suit. komodo is local to me and a big supporter of the race scene so i went with them. great suit and they have a big following. i definitely recommend komodo gear to anyone:

helmet: i'm pretty happy with my flat black HJC AC12

boots: alpinestars smx plus perfed, gloves: joe rocket gpx 2.0
love the boots. the gloves are ok. need to upgrade. they're a little too short for my long fingers and probably not really up to serious racing standards. they've held up well to a handfull of lowsides though.

backprotecter: i've been using this alpinestars one for the past 3 or 4 years and like it, but its pretty huge. i just picked up this icon vest in the off season and think its going to be much more comfortable.

also... very important.... earplugs:

put that all together and i look something like this:

around the city i usually just wear my old oxtar race boots, jeans, alpinestars sniper jacket, and the same gloves/helmet as my track setup. unless its really hot, then i'll wear my mx helmet. i know... the jeans are asking for trouble.

if i ever start commuting on the bike a lot again, i'll buy a aerostich suit to wear over my clothes.

Suit: MotoGP Kangaroo Compression (7 crashes, most over 100MPH and I have never been hurt/bruised/scratched while wearing this suit.)
Helmet: Arai RR4

Gloves: 'Racer' Kangaroo leather race gloves.

You'll see my lucky red/black/silver MotoGP suit in just about every pic of me ;P

I have 1 on-track crash in my life and I'm still hurting from it at times 3.5 years later; you get 7 crashes with zero consequences? argh! But I'm happy for you.

My Helimot suit held up just fine, but my Sidi Vertigo Corsas weren't enough to prevent a reasonably severe ankle injury (I believe the bike slammed down on the boot).

i've crashed a good 20+ times over the past 5 years... haha (most in my first year of racing)

most at a fairly low speed on 100cc bikes though. only 2 that i can think of that were above 50mph, but that one gave me a slight concussion. only injuries i've had is a broken collar bone, a half dozen cracked ribs and a cracked tailbone. not a bad average really. main reason for all the cracked ribs is that i have 11 vertebrae fused (scoliosis). my body doesn't bend and flex when i hit the ground like its suppose to.

I think the key problem is that our bodies aren't supposed to hit the ground. What they do or don't do when they hit the ground is an entirely separate discussion.

haha... well, thats debatable i guess. you could argue that flexability is part of evolution.... keeping us from getting hurt in the hunting and fighting world of ancient man?

i was going to do some Muay Thai stuff just to check it out and for exercise, but decided agianst it. i'm not too afraid of getting beat up a little, but a normal person getting kicked in the ribs can absorb that hit pretty well by the spine and ribs flexing. my spine doesn't flex so my ribs take all that hit along with the couple of functioning vertebrea that do actually work. i didn't think the risk was worth it... instead i ride dirtbikes. way safer... haha

Yeah, I think my magic suit makes me invulnerable or something. I once crashed up at Deals Gap (Tail of the Dragon) when it was raining, doing maybe 80MPH around a turn I low-sided... I was sliding and watching my bike spinning down the road, as a SUV comes around the turn strait for me!!! I throw all my body weight to my right in an attempt to miss the back tire and next thing I knew I was tumbling in the dirt on the side of the road, guess I missed him He stopped and got out of his car, white as a ghost.. I think he was surprised that I had a smile on my face.

I could prolly consider myself a professional crasher, I am 100% clear headed now when I crash, hence why I was able to un-crash myself the other day. Who says crashing doesnt pay off?

price and budget have dictated my selections of riding gear:

Helmet: HJC AC11 "Zeek" (oldie but goodie)
Jackets: Both Xelement, one is a leather and cordura armored (shoulders and elbows) mix, abit on the lighter side, and a cordura armored (shoulders, elbows and back). this one's heavier than the other.
Boots: Both are again Xelement. One is a laced front, above the ankle type boot, the other is a more classic cruiser type riding boot.

i suffered a non-riding injury and was unable to ride for several months, and loaned that first jacket to a cousin who took a spill wearing it riding with her boyfriend. they're both alright....that jacket saved her elbow and shoulder from some months of skin re-generation!

Gear

When I was in college I wore no gear except for a helmet occasionally. Dumb college student. I sold my bike when I got married. It has been 11 years since I owned a bike. I decided to buy a 250 ninja to commute to work and now i am older and wiser I want to buy all the gear that is needed. This is what I bought with my Christmas money. I want to get gloves and some draggin' jeans. I haven't looked into boots yet.

I could prolly consider myself a professional crasher, I am 100% clear headed now when I crash, hence why I was able to un-crash myself the other day. Who says crashing doesnt pay off?

That is so awesome. You're my hero. How kick@$$ is that!!! Heh. I love a good reaction and I bet you got a great one that day! They'll never forget you as long as they live.

Thumbs up newenough Rocks

I know Kelly has given several ataboys to newenough but after today I will be hard pressed to use anyone else unless I have to have "it" in a certain time frame and they wont be able to respond.

I've been wanting a TourMaster Transition 2 jacket in Hi-Vis Yellow (http://www.newenough.com/image/path/...ivizyellow.jpg) since November and everyone has had them backordered. January 30 I got an eMail from newenough that they had a shipment arriving so I placed my order. Got the notice that it would be shipping on 2/5 and when I use USPS from TX I usually get it the third day. Sure enough Saturday there is a box for me and with great excitement I open it up.

Well I didn't even get the flaps all the way opened and I knew it was a Yellow not the Hi-Vis Yellow. Got on line, ordered the correct one and requested an RMA. Megan eMails this morning and say's all their paper work matches up and they shipped what I ordered and gives me the standard RMA policy (I pay). Sent her a copy of the eMail to me that said the Hi-Vis was in stock and suggested it was a phone order and why would I order a Yellow when I was waiting for a Hi-Vis.

Bottom line, Hi-Vis in transit to me, pre-paid RMA sent to me, and 110% credit when they get the yellow one back.

Megan and company at newenough are everything Kelly has said they are.
