Atlanta dragway...Battle of the 250s!

DATE CHANGE!!! March 22nd!

Alright so March 22nd the strip opens back up for 2013. $20 to race and all you need is a jacket/gloves/pants/helmet and shoes! Unless your 250 can break into the 11sec 1 4mile you do NOT need a race suite

The few people that came last time seemed to really enjoy the experiance a lot. So the more 250s the more fun it will be! Hope to race you there

Racer X, you can take vaction and come run right? I would love to see the reaction from people when they see what your bike can run.

I am excited, have been wanting to run my Hyo 650 and see where it stands compared to my Ninja 650s. Going to try and fit my friends 08 250 on the trailer to run fleemos just because

Well I am definitely up for this. I would imagine March 2nd would work best since it's on a Saturday?

Useful info:

The following are requirements for street legal motorcycles:
1. Drivers MUST have a full face helmet meeting the SNELL 2005 rating.
2. Driver must have leather jacket.
3. Driver must have leather pants if 120mph or faster.
4. Driver must wear full finger leather gloves.
5. Driver must have leather high top shoes or boots.
6. Motorcycle must have a chain guard.
7. Motorcycle must have working taillight.
8. Nitrous oxide is allowed, if securely mounted-DOT regulated.
9. Slicks are allowed.
10. No three-or four-wheelers of any kind.
11. If you run quicker than 9.99 seconds you must have an NHRA license.

I wish I could make it. I don't have any vacation time. I run four times in Ohio plus two weeks at Bonneville.

Plus I don't have a tail light.
But I will be running the 1/4 in late march. I want to go 13.99.

I can tell you from experiance you dont have to have leather boots or a leather jacket! Just have to have you arms covered and high top shoes

My 250 will be pretty much stock as well and I imagine the majority will be the same.

It'll be fun just pushing the 250 as far as you can in a relatively safe environment.

Trust me when I say you are going to want to compete! It does not matter how slow or fast you are, really you want to race against yourself and try to improve you time each run. Its a good way to test an tune also. Nobody is going to dog on anyone running a stock 250, I have seen guys come out there on GSX600R and run high 16s

I might not have a bike, but I will be there to give you guys instructions on how to launch and what not. Sold the Hyo GT650R yesterday and two people are coming today look at both the green and black bike, if they both sell today i might be a little sad as I was planning to run the green bike march 2nd

I said I was getting a dirt bike! lol

The problem is that I have become over confident, which means I know it is time to get rid of the street bikes for a while! Just a family riding rule, when you become over confident it’s time to get off!

It is good to listen to your gut, it very well may be telling you to slow down and be more careful and take less risk. Everything in life is about risk management, sometimes you can eliminate the risk, and other times you can just manage it. If you get on a motorcycle all you can do is managing the risk. When I was flying for a living, every decision was made based on analyzing the risk and taking the necessary precautions to reduce it as much as possible. Most of the time the biggest risk factor was yourself or the other pilot. After being on the road for weeks and working crazy hours it was easy get sloppy and careless. We would be tired, in a rush to get home and that's when the mistakes happen. Every time anyone of us gets on our bikes we should remind ourselves that the goal is to have as much fun with out taking unnecessary risks and to ride another day and then some times you can tell your head is not in it and you should just take the

Sorry for the rant. I am fascinated by risk management and human factors...

Curious, as I used to drag race my cars, what does a stock 250 run usually in the 1/4?

I have seen claimed high 14s with a pro rider. Have not seen anyone run that in person...best I saw was a mid 15 sec.
