mysterious fuel leak
I have a 2010 250r I bought with 2300 miles on it. Currently has 8500 and a few hundred miles ago i noticed something on the top front of my tank when i came out to leave my work. I thought maybe a bird **** on my tank so i wiped it off no biggie. A couple days later i noticed it again. There was two half inch long lines coming from the gas cap heading toward the front of the bike. Wiped it off again and long story short it kept reappearing. I wasn't sure it was gas cuz it was darker in color and was very sticky and didn't smell like anything. Thought it was grease from something. Used goo gone to get it off. Now I'm certain its fuel cuz now its to the point where its not sticky and it smells like fuel. Its coming from the gap between the tank and the ring with the bolts in it around the cap. I inspected the seal and it seems in perfect condition not worn or brittle or anything like that. But the mysterious part is that it isn't consistent with anything like when i get gas or do long rides or how full the tank is. Its not flowing out but it a few slow creeper streams only from the 12 oclock position at the outer edge of the bolted ring. Also i am a little over due for a valve adjustment. I wonder if that plays any part in it.

Welcome to our site, Droo !!!
Check that the hose in the back of the tank is not kinked and free to drain any over-fill. Blow back in order to see if the tube inside the tank is not clogged.
