Something loose? I don't hear a buzz from the bike itself, just the buzzy sounding exhaust. It's common for the levers to buzz, does it come and go at specific rpms?

So it safe to say it's the buzzy feeling vs audible sound?

Some things to think about.
Comfort grips and aftermarket clipons that bolt to fork tubes instead of top tripple.
Heavier bar ends
Rubber coated rearsets (you have aftermarket?)
Gearing
Preloads on suspension (what position do you have the rear set to?)
You have a tight grip on the bars? I would agree that the bars get buzzy at around 80, it reminds me to be loose
44lbs of air in your tires? Try a few lbs less. Sounds funny but I am not joking here.
Super hard touring tires?

One of the best mods you can do. The Ninja becomes a new beast with a 15 tooth front sprocket. It should reduce your rpm speed by 500-700 in any gear, add approx 6 mph to your top end speed and reduced a bit of the hwy buzz at higher rpms. Switching to a synthetic also helps smooth out the engine.

Yea, try the 15t front sprock. I think that should be the stock gearing. $20 and 20 mins worth of work and easily reversible. You don't even have to bust the chain.

the 15 tooth sprocket should help.

get a cramp buster and some foam grips.
wear thicker socks

tuck a little once you get up to speed.

Question

I heard that switching to the 15t can damage the bike in some way is this true? Also how hard is it to change out? I commute everyday mostly hwy and my rpm's at 70 are at 10000.

Not true, however a 16 tooth sprocket (which some have done) will make the chain rub on the sprocket cover.

The install is not hard at all. There's a DIY somewhere.
You should be doing closer to 80 mph @ 10k rpm (in 6th gear) with stock gears.

Why is my rpm so high then with the stock sprocket? My idle is set at about 1300. What can I do to fix the high rpm in 6 gear other than switching sprockets?

if all our transmission gear ratios are the same, it should equal any stock bike with 14/45 sprockets.

you can 15/44 for an 9% reduction in rpm.

2 things come to mind for this:
  • You have shorter gearing (13/45 or 14/47) because that is about the same rpm's I was turning when I was running 14/47 gearing
  • You have the newgen-rpm-readout-issue that is just part of the newgen CDI on some bikes.
