At least you got instructions!! Mine didnt come with any! Not that it was hard to figure out.. Just didnt know where the baffle sits, etc..

I *just* ordered mine a few weeks ago and noticed they have a US distributor now (mine was shipped from Nevada), so I wonder if that helps a little...

The instructions were *very* basic and didn't explain much (basically it was an outline drawing with points to what stuff was). Not really all that helpful... LOL! Plus it mentioned nothing about drilling out the holes on the straps (which I had to do) and the stupid clamp bolt broke while I was tightening it and had to buy another one... Grrr...

Yeah, i had to drill my holes out as well.. and those springs are NOT EASY to put on!! lOl! I guess they are sussposed to be tight, but dang! I still havent shimmed anything on it.. i havent lost any performance at all, the only thing is it crackles when i let off the throttle.

Oh- after the pipe breaks in a little, does it get louder?! Or am i imagining things?! lol!

Did you get your bike put back together and painted?! I still dont know if i will shim or not.. it seems to run just fine without that, except for the crackling, but i dont know if it would still do that shimmed or not?! It hasnt backfired on me since i put the new exhaust on, and before the exhaust, it backfired 3 different times! That all happened under 1200 miles, and now ive put 1000 more miles on, and still no backfiring

I *just* put mine on this last Monday and have only got to ride it around the block, so I am not sure on break in yet, but hopefully will find out relatively soon! LOL!

I'm with Justin, my springs were almost *too* easy to put on (the smaller ones even)... I am assuming once everything starts heating up and stuff, they'll flex out a little... I do want to clamp the top and bottom pieces down though, just in case... And I have yet to shim either. I figured I would wait till I broke the muffler in a little... Just on my quick ride, I did noticed it did seem to pick up quicker when I hit the throttle though... just seemed snapier... Then again, I didn't get above like 30 mph either... LOL!

Well, I guess that ones been answered. But yes, you'll have to take it off and take the adapter piece off too (the short angled thing).

The baffle helps a lot. Not so much in volume, but in tone. It cuts out a fair bit of the highs and lessens that harshness of the tone. It's still loud and beefy, just doesn't have those harsh and brittle highs.

Ok good, i like that its loud since "loud exhausts save lives"

Does your pop and crackle when you let off the throttle?

Yeah, mine does that as well. Mine actually seems to run better with the pipe. Im curious to see how she runs this summer when its 90-100 degrees outside.. If other peoples pops and cracks and they have shimmed, i see no reason to shim. I asked Eric if his popped, etc.. im curious now

just got done placing the order 4 both can & baffle. Will be shimming as soon as i get 'em. Should i experiment with the number of washers or just go with 2 since that seems the most common here?

The crackling and popping is likely the fault of the Kleen system, not the lack of raised needles. Try the shimming. see if it helps. if not, it's reversible, so you're perfectly fine to remove the washers

They're lean in the midrange stock. You open up the exhaust even a little, and it will be that little bit more lean. Humor us all. Try it. It will only take a half hour of your time, and you'll learn more about how the bike feels when it's lean vs rich vs just right. Even if your bike isn't lean you still might benefit in a little mid-range smoothness from a slightly more rich mid-range mix.

Firm believer in shimming here

experiment. what's good for bike x is not the same setup that works well with bike y. This is because you're in physically different locations. 0 washers. test ride. 1 washer. test ride. 2 washers. test ride. 3 washers. test right. return to the number of washers that felt best.

Just ride her naked for testing

my neighbors always know I'm working on the bike when I'm riding around town on a naked bike. One day I was too lazy to put her clothes back on before I went to work, so I got there on a nake bike, and my boss saw that it was naked was like, "what are you up to now grease monkey??"

My family always laughs at me when I go test ride her naked after every single change I make to the carbs.

The crack and pops are from the KLEEN air system. I plan to take mine out/off, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I got the same setup too. I just installed my baffle today and it sounds less annoying. Now I'll just have to ride around or a few days to work to notice the difference on the highway.

Cool! I think it sounds alot better with the baffle on.. i take the hov in the mornings, so i have the shorter walls on each side, and it would give me a headache, lol! I have noticed on my can, where the clip holds it to the bike, it cracked all around it-and melted a bit.. like the clip was around it too tight, which isnt the case.. Weird.. but i guess thats what you get fo $80!

Yup, I did the same thing. I had to take the can off to install the baffle and noticed the crack. I ordered my baffle a wee after the muffler. I think the mounting bracket wasn't long enough.

Its almost like the holder around the pipe was squeezed to hard or something.. Ill try to take a picture of it during lunch-not sure if you can see it or not since the brack will be covering it. I didnt know it was like that until i took it off to put the baffle in.

hey guys,

So I've have the danmoto on a 09 ninja. I rode it twice and both times I could smell something burning.

I shimmed the carbs, but only have 1set (1 per needle) sitting on there. Maybe I need to reshim and add another set of washers?

Has anyone experience any smells after slipping on the exhaust? Could it just be the packing in the exhaust because its new?

Thats normal, its just breaking it in, burning out all the stuff/oil/etc. inside of it. After a few more rides you shouldnt smell anything.
