ZX-10R items that will fit 08+ 250Rs with additional work/parts!

In my quest to retrofit a ZX-10R Master Cylinder/Reservoir (see http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=33510), I initially was going to use the following parts from a 2005-06 ZX-10R:

1. Master Cylinder/Reservoir with adjustable brake lever.
2. Right Hand Switch Assembly
3. Throttle Grip Assembly with throttle cables
4. Clutch perch assembly with switch and clutch lever.

If you just want to install item 1, you can do it by reclocking the right hand switch assembly roughly 1/4" forward. You will need to drill another hole. I used a 3/16" drill bit. The front brake line will work, but why upgrade the master cylinder and NOT use a stainless steel brake line?

I did NOT install items 2 and 3, since 2 requires a new 6 way electrical plug (available from Eastern Beaver) and each item would require that another hole be drilled in the clipon. Also, item 3 would require replacing the ZX-10R throttle cables with custom ones!

After following kkim's excellent instructions on removing the left bar end, grip, left hand switch housing and clutch perch, I then installed item 4 and discovered that the OEM clutch cable is TOO SHORT. The only way to make it work would be to manually disengage the clutch at the clutch housing and slip the cable into the clutch housing linkage after installing same at the clutch lever. There would then be no slack left for adjustment!!! What this means is you would need to purchase a longer (about 1/2" - 3/4") clutch cable.

So, if anyone (VeX, I will sell the clutch perch cheap to you) has a burning desire to install items 2-4, let me know before I put them on eBay!

LOL I've ceased doing work on the ol' moto for the time being. I'm broke (Going to school full time+ now). Thanks for the offer on the clutch perch. I actually already snagged one for an EX500 for when I got some Pazzos, but even that never came to be. Oh well Bummer about the throttle assembly. When you held it up those cables really stick forward pretty far. I'm not sure with clip-ons if that would cause an interference or not. Fiddlesticks. The ZX10 M/C and lines really look nice though. Brilliant!
