Sometimes...it's a double-edged sword.

You may avoid unexpected problems later, or you may cause problems for yourself that you didn't have before.

I'm all for regular maintenance, but I would rather stay on top of the condition of the fuel (don't let fuel sit in the floatbowl for an extended amount of time, and use stabilizer if the bike will be sitting), run a good fuel filter, and occasionally run a strong fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron Concentrate than remove and clean carbs.
