Small rubber pad position

While putting some bike fairings and the seats back on i realised i had a small rubber pad which i have no clue where it goes, does anyone have an idea where it goes.

I believe it's a rubber pad that goes on the the side fairings, helps to protect where the fairing makes contact with the gas tank

But it looks just like the rubber sticker between fairing and tank

That is what goes on the tank, where the "thigh" plastic touches it.

Side note, I dont know what that part of the fairing is called. Usually not painted, usually black.
I had mine apart today and called it a bat wing when talking to my kid.
