These bike are $4000 NEW for the dealer. Used bikes still have to pay tax.
So therefore you are asking about $1000 over what the bike is worth. Sorry. Buying then regretting usually costs more than nothing... |

what do you mean used bikes still have to pay tax? the bike is paid off. private owner. there is no tax.
only registration. i said i would negotiate. and yes i know regretting costs more but what can i say.. plus its not like the bike is junk now. its still brand new. new bikes go around 5000 out the door around here. someone buying for straight up 4800 or LESS from ME would be getting a good deal. |

Sorry, but there is ALWAYS a sales tax when you buy/sell a vehicle. When you go to get it registered they WILL ask for the bill of sales and charge 6% sales tax. So in the end the buyer would be paying $5088 for this bike PLUS whatever the state charges for registration and title. (each state has different standards for fees) This is something you can't get around. The only way to... *ahem*... 'cheat' the system is to write up a bill of sales for a really low amount in order to pay less tax on it. If you go to register a new vehicle without a bill of sales most states will charge taxes on the blue book value of the vehicle. I know all this from experience in more then one state. |

Where the heck are people finding these bikes so cheap? I paid $5570.25 CAD for mine, and converted into USD it's still over $5000. Are prices really that much lower in the US?

it depends where you live.
none of the bikes here in california go for less than 5000 out the door. but ive heard of them being quite a bit cheaper in places where you aren't able to ride all year. |

Jessica- the MSRP up there is higher than ours is in the states... Tyronne- good luck with the sale, but I don't think you'll get anywhere near that much for it

think about it.. its 3999 at the dealer but with freight charges and tax and everything else.. here in CA you leave with 5000+ out the door.
buying mine for $4000 + registration and tax(cheaper tax) at the DMV you will pay much less than the dealer. no freight chargers or anything (obviously) and considering the bike only has 22miles and is less than a week old from the dealer and nothing wrong with it at all.. i dont think im asking too much. |

Have you put this up on craigslist? If not you really need to, that's your best bet for finding a buyer.

i did but my price there is 4500. (which i might lower) because people on craigslist are all shady...
uhm.. $3800 is my sweet spot? your kidding right? i dont think anyone can argue what i said earlier. yes i bought it and i am the one that is going to lose money but god dammit. it has 22 miles and there is NO WAY you will get it this new and this cheap anywhere the person buying would already save over $1000 bucks. |

Richard lives in Cali and buys many of his bikes in Cali; if he says he can I wouldn't doubt him for a second. Do you have the title in hand? Is the bike paid off?
Sorry this hobby wasn't for you, and I hope your sale goes well. If it's priced correctly it will sell quickly, if it's not it won't; there's not much more to it.

i dont know where he went but i went to every single dealer in my area and no one would go below 5000..
im not here to argue. just trying to sell the bike. yes i know it was my mistake and misfortune but that doesn't mean i need to completely lose everything and give such a low price. |

Some states don't have a sales tax and would therefore not require that. However, in every state that I've been in that has a sales tax they require a bill of sales for any vehicle you purchase. If you owned those vehicles for longer then a certain period (6 months in Florida) then no, they won't ask for the bill of sales.

There is a dealer in the SoCal area who tried selling the '08 250 Ninja for $7000, but I went to another dealer offering it for $6000, and thought it was a deal.... wish I had done more research.
The $6000 includes MSRP, freight, taxes, registration, and gap. Tyronne, good luck with the sale. |

including gap does increase the normal costs. you probably overpaid by an extra $500. i'm sure it hurts to know you overpaid, but if you are happy with the bike, then consider it a wash.

A bike is only worth what someone is willing to buy it for. You may think its worth 4000 because of what you paid, but if someone isn't willing to forkover that much then sorry it aint worth that. Good luck though on the sale, hope someone becomes a happy ninjette owner soon

It would make more sense if you had put the rim tape on BOTH sides of the wheels.

There are at least 5 dealerships in the Bay Area selling new 250s for $3999 plus fees, which work out to about $4800OTD...that includes tax and more importantly now...1 full year of registration AND 1 full year of warranty.
In the bay area the used 250 selling price sweet sport seems to be about $3700...since there are like 20 trying to sell them at the magical $4000-4800 range... this isn't limited to 250 sellers, I have seen guys trying to sell R6's for like $11,000... |

Ok I will let you slide with the rim tape but if someone from the east coast were to buy it they will have to factor in all the benjamins they will need to spend to ship it, no? Just keep ithe damn thing and ride the sht out of it already will ya?!

Keep your bike, it's true.. maybe your dealer jacked you. But I bought my bike $4300 OTD (bike, taxes, etc) in Central California... You won't get back what you spent, so use the bike and get something out of it before selling it.

That's central CA. Not South CA near LA.
Anyways. I got a buyer for $4000 but the problem is I can't sell the bike without the title. (Apparently you can't when it's brand new / You can if it's old and sold more than once) Posted via Mobile Device |
