Help dropped bolt in engine

yeah, i know, i'm really dumb. after rebuilding my engine i had it almost entirely back together when i realized i hadn't screwed on the coolant hose that bolts onto the back of the cylinders. when i tried to, i dropped one of the bolts down the hole. i don't remember where that hole goes or how deep it is. please help, i just want my bike back asap as it's my only vehicle.

That only goes down to the bottom of the cylinder. It cant be more than a few inches down. The cylinder liners are so close together i doubt the bolt went anywhere.

Heck its probably stuck next to the starter where its hard to see.

A magnet on a string should get it, I'd think. The block is aluminum.

Grab bike and shake it upside down. Bolt will fall out from wherever it is.

the hole goes in and then around the cylinders. it is either right there at the end of the hole, or worst case, at the front of the motor.

The magnet idea is the best one. Again, worst case you will need to pull the back part of the bike off to get a better shot at the hole. Worse worst case, you pull the cylinder.

I would try a small telescopic magnet. Some have a cover that slides over the sides of the magnet so it only will attract on the very end, which is handy if there are any steel parts you need to go past.

Get a bright flashlight and see if you can see where it is.

A "gripper" with 4 wire "fingers" that come out of a cable housing (when you push the button on the end) is another option, but you would need to be able to see the bolt to use it.

As always, thanks for being so helpful guys. I managed to fish it out with a mirror on a stick, a magnet on a stick, a coat hanger, and a flashlight, lol. I've got a full shop, and the engine was just apart, tools and stuff weren't really a concern, just didn't want to pull it back apart again. thanks everyone!

Glad you got it. I once dropped a piece of shim stock down my cam chain tunnel and it took longer than I thought it would to get it out with one of the pushbutton cable-claw things mentioned above.
