larger sprocket more links?

Hi all,

My chain is making a horrendous noise under acceleration, so its time for a change...

I wanted to up the pinion (front sprocket) from a 14 tooth to a 15 tooth, but am wondering is i will need more links in the new chain or will the rear wheel adjustment cover the slack?

In regards to the chain, I was told to get a solid chain (no master links), but i can't seem to find one for a reasonable price.

How will this do? (Can't tell what type of link this is?)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

How is bikemaster for chains, cheap quality?

Can someone recommend the least expensive chain from amazon that i can get a rivet link or solid chain (no master links)?

Thanks,

Phil.

You won't need more links than stock (which is 106, rather than 104, on my '06). The RK SO chain is good, but it doesn't come with a riveted master link, so you'll have to buy one (and the riveting tool) separately.

I got an RK 520-20-106 chain for $46, a link for $6.20 and a tool for $50 ("Pit Posse" brand - works fine).

I did the whole project, including a new rear sprocket (stock size) in about a half hour. I saved time by cutting off the old chain with a Dremel cutting wheel.

Thanks for the quick reply,

The EX250-E series have 104 links.

Where did you get your chain and sprokets from, that seems like a great price!

I currently have a clip type master link, so i won't have a problem getting it off.

I got all the parts from Amazon. They have several sellers offering RK o-ring chains, as well as Renthal chains.
