I rented it, the single player is fun but short. Oh and there is a super disturbing level that you don't want the kids hanging around watching, it will ask you at the beginning of the game whether you want to play that level or not. They also have a spec Ops mode which is pretty cool.

And dude, Rock Band Country?

I got it for Xbox360, but I'm thinking about getting the PC version. Graphics are way ahead on there. I'll get xbox live soon, once I wire up the house correctly, then I'll be on there playing either that or Forza 3.

I finally got level 21 two days ago and unlocked perk called BLING. It allows two attachements per weapon when used.

I have been rocking a SCAR w/ Heartbeat sensor and silencer or silencer and ACOG scope.

I still suck...nothing over a 5 kill streak ever! Damn fun to play though.

Sweet! I've picked up bling guns but I didn't know that meant two attachments. Do you get that with lvl 21 or is there other stuff you gotta do?

You get Bling at level 21. I am now a level 26 I think, and I have now been using a P90 w/ RDS and the higer ROF attachment.

COD : Black Ops

I picked up my copy of COD : Black Ops on release date. I'm pretty pleased with this new COD so far.

Anyone else play COD religiously like me?
If so, PS3 or 360?

I'm not big with the online play...I don't like getting constantly berated by 12 year olds (it makes me cry inside)...but I LOVE the COD series. How's this one stack up to COD 4? Activision didn't do this one, correct?

Infinity Ward you mean. Activision is the publisher. IW is the dev that created the series. Treyarch is the dev used to make several alternate entries in order to maximize series profits for the pub (CoD3, CoD:WaW, CoD:BO). The talent at IW left to form a new company with EA, which means "no more awesome game engines or inspiration for Treyarch to work with."

Anyway... PS3 or 360?! Don't you think you're leaving something out there? CoD has always been a PC series first and formost. The only major entry not on PC was Treyarch's only numbered entry (CoD3), which only hurt their legitimacy.

Trying to play an FPS on a console feels so foreign to me. Aiming with a mouse makes a lot more sense for me.

Some people may think it is a major downgrade, but i'm sitting on the border for this game. The graphics and engine may be different, but it's also the other aspects of the new COD that still make the game enjoyable.
No more of that commando pro and cold blooded pro crap. All the dumb perks are out, and all the actual useful ones aren't all in the same class. Zombies are back, and Black Ops has more of a mercenary feel where instead of having to play a million rounds to unlock stuff, now you can buy it.

Sniping is also a whole lot better since they added a variable zoom. where you can adjust your scope. Like a REAL sniper. :P

Treyarch did world at war and black ops which is why they're similar. IW did modern warfare and MW2 which is why those two are similar. Activision just publishes the games. I try to treat them as two separate entities since they're developed by two different companies.

Both games have their ups and downs. I do miss nukes and I feel the killstreaks for black ops are a little weak, but I guess that's where most people complained.

Also, sad that they removed drop shots and quick scopes which made the game more entertaining. I felt that it was a skill that you had to learn to gain an advantage, not just a glitch.

I love Modern Warfare Reflex Edition with the WII. I hope they come out with the same thing with Black Ops.

Sure WII graphics suck, but the controls make the game a lot more fun.

Yeah, i tried to quick scope in Black Ops. No luck so far. And yes, quick scoping is an insane skill.

Meh. I got more than my fill of it during the beta. I got a free copy because I work for a subsidiary of Activision, but I don't plan to actually play it. The campaign story is cool, and Zombies are always awesome, but otherwise I think MW2 feels more varied and was a lot more fun (No tactical knife/commando is a deal breaker for me).

Really though, I just don't really enjoy FPS games very much anyways, so I wasn't expecting much

You know when I was younger I really didn't like fps games, the game that dragged me into liking them was metroid prime.

Yeah, it's weird, I like third person shooters, but as soon as it's in the first person perspective, I'm immediately turned off. Every now and again I'll play one and love it for some reason- I played the hell out of the first Resistance and I was completely enamored with Condemned (Although not technically a shooter, I suppose), for example- but Black ops just feels really mundane to me. As soon as they make a CoD RPG I'll start caring again

You should really see it on a good PC (best of both worlds: graphics and a more-fun input method). I went through the game's single-player campaign on both. Heck, with a lot of tweaking, you could probably come pretty close to the same input method using a PC + Bluetooth adapter + GlovePIE + Wii Remote.

Which is really more like the classic side-scrolling exploration / adventure Metroid games. It's one of the few examples of a genre that transitioned perfectly into 3D 1st-person without losing its essence. In fact, it's really only an FPS in the sense that it's 1st-person perspective and that you can shoot stuff, but there is really nothing else quite like it. Even the gameplay mechanics are more like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a 3rd-person game, than they are like a traditional FPS.

Input method, perhaps? Console controllers work well for 3rd-person but are awkward for first person games. Keyboard + Mouse is the only "correct" way to go for 1st-person. Honestly, I can't see how they got as popular as they have on consoles with the input methods available.

As for Resistance, I played through it at launch and couldn't get over how every little thing was a rip off of Half-Life or War of the Worlds. I guess it was still "new" to most console players, but I couldn't find anything original to like about it. I played through it again when Resistance 2 came out and made it through the original and half way through Resistance 2 before realizing that I simply wasn't having fun and it really was more of the same (despite the glowing reviews). I never even felt like putting the disc in again. It's BAD when a highly-praised game makes you feel like that. Half-Life 2 and CoD4:Modern Warfare were almost impossible to stop playing once you got started and sucked in (referring to the single-player campaigns). I don't see how anyone could feel that way about Resistance or Killzone.

CZ have you played metroid other m? That was pretty good though the story sucked and the controls with the wii remote were a little weird. It was missing that metroid feel of being isolated and exploring freely. They need to make another super metroid or fusion and not make samus seem like a whimp. Yeah I like third person shooters better and always have for some reason.
