R6 vs Ninja 250

So after just a week of riding my R6, today I asked a friend to let me ride his ninja 250. Right away I realized how much more comfortable the ninja is than my R6. I rode away and before reaching 40 I had to shift 3 times which kind of gets annoying after a while. I also forgot how small the ninja is, real easy to turn with and walk. The only thing that the Ninja needs is a bit more power and would be perfect.

If you knew how to ride it you would only have shifted once

Ninjettes redline at 30 mph (mine anyway) in first gear. You are doing it wrong

The bike doesn't need more power, you're just a crappy rider.

I dunno, maybe try getting off the highway or beach boulevard and finding a road with some turns in it? I'd love to see you even ride that R6 at 4/10ths.

But of course a Ninja 250 is going to be more comfortable. An R6 is a RACING MACHINE, not a toy for a child like you. Hell, I don't even know why they sell super sport bikes for road use in the first place. Someone on here once said riding one on the street is like being a brain surgeon and applying at the hospital for a janitorial position. Couldn't be any more accurate. Even the first super sports were much more than one could ever use, or need on public roads. A Ninja 250 is more than anyone needs. I can get to speeds that will have me thrown in jail in no time flat on my 250.

Like I said, include me in your will! I want that R6 for a track toy after you wad it up for me. Then I can build it to what I please.

DAWT.

When I first got mine I was too scared to shift, so I would start it in 1st and ride around the block just using the clutch and brake. WTF 40mph in 4th

I like cruising at 6k rpms, i dont redline the ninja because that requires ear plugs. Although it does make the other lawn mowers in the neighborhood sound lame.

I would only ever get a 600 if I planned on taking it to the track or hitting the twisties.

Once I graduate and join the Air Force, I'll post the differences between the Diamond DA40 we use at my school for pilot training & the T-6 Texan (or T38) used by the Air Force for training! Just in case the differences aren't obvious.

try it! Its glorious!! That's the only thing I miss about my stock exhaust was the peace and quiet. I could sneak in and out of the house without waking my parents too . I wish i had gotten an area p with the quiet core.

I have good hearing. I like the idea of keeping it that way

Awwww, your poor ears hurt.

Seriously? The solution here is to get a better helmet. Any super sport is going to be louder at cruising speed than a Ninja 250 will ever be. You contradicted yourself completely. First you complain about it sounding like a lawn mower, then about how loud it is? Most of the hearing damage you will receive riding a motorcycle will be from wind. It's constantly beating on your ears in a tight space. This is why a quality helmet is important. They're not so bad in that aspect. Cheap ones are (HJC...I know because I'm ashamed to wear one). Also, for long highway rides pop in some ear buds. I prefer the type with volume control on the cord. This way it keeps the wind out of your ears and you get to listen to music and adjust the volume as needed. It's surprisingly easy to hear what's going on around you if you have the volume adjust headphones and turn them all the way down.

And yes, I am much cooler than you are. I actually pay for my own motorcycle and insurance and I'm debt free.

And forget about a liter bike. What you need is a 500cc 4 cylinder 2-stroke GP machine. Or a TZ 750. Them's fast.

Earplugs are definitely a better solution than a new helmet. No matter how "good" of a helmet you have or how "quiet" it is, a loud helmet with earplugs will still be quieter than a quiet helmet with unprotected ears. Earplugs only cost $2.00 for a re-usable pair that will last you a while vs $300 for a quieter helmet and work better anyways. Earbuds are a bad idea; they just add more noise to cover up the noise that damages your hearing in the first place.

the question of "does the bike have enough power" can be answered as such:
you cant put down any more power than the power it takes to break loose the rear, right? so... does the bike have enough power to break the tire loose while fully leaned over at the speed you are going?

there's a qualifier to that question... the speed you are going. lets assume <65mph. top of 3rd gear. so can you break loose the rear tire in 1st at full lean? yes. 2nd? yes. 3rd? its hard, but ive seen people do it on the race track.

so the answer to your question is, yes. the 250 has more than enough power for legal street speeds. unless you are trying to drag race.
