I'm still here --- Thank you!
Well it seems that I have been gone for a while, probably a few months . . . .
I was thinking about that today when my wonderful hubby and I went out for a ride. So what I have been up to, I have become more familiar with my bike (Hard-Ass). We have had several near misses but overall it has been an enjoyable learning experience. I thought about when I first started to ride and every little problem frightened me, but I was always back here posting my dilemmas or any problems. I always wanted to get your expertise advice on what gear would be best. How to become a better rider or seeking safety tips. I know I was constantly reminded that I was a beginner and needed to ride with extreme caution and WHY did I not use ATGATT or WHY not the take the riding safety course? At first I just felt like everyone would just reiterate the need for this, you know kind of like your mother getting on you for things. Then one day a very bad near miss with a cager happened and a light went off in my head. Had it not been a constant reminder from the folks here at Ninjette I probably wouldn't be here. I now DO NOT leave the house without ALL my gear, even for a "quick" spin. I am constantly aware of my surroundings and always checking my mirrors. I can counter steer like you would not believe to avoid obstacles in my path, some of you that helped me understand would be proud. I feel comfortable around curves and can tuck while my body is completely relaxed at all times. I am not a cocky rider (probably get some comments on that statement ), I do not take anything for granted when I am on Hard-Ass. I thoroughly enjoy my riding and it is because of you that I am able to be here typing this message. So I would like to encourage all newbies to heed the warnings and don't be to shy or stubborn to listen to these folks. When you are feeling like they are jumping your s*** about stuff that they see as a danger or being too reckless, listen to them. The experience, knowledge, and support that is in this group has indeed earned my sincere respect for each of you and I want to say thank you, because of all the valuable lessons I have learned along the way, I am still here . . . . . Thank you so much! |
