Another thing I hadn't noticed before is the shiny fork/frame and different front fender.

I did like the black 08 lower on green.... oh well. The new fork and frame looks good IMO, but could go either way on that.

I think that is the only thing missing on the 09s atm, that seat makes the bike look MUCH better to me.
Exactly. It seems that before 2009 they would pick one color each year to add a colored cowl line seat cover. I guess they picked black this year.

The older (2006/7?) silver one looks NICE but doesn't stand up to the elements well (look at the wear on all the used pics).

Yeah, I already asked in the Kawi forums 650r forum about getting everything around the swingarm blacked out. It looks like it's kind of a dark gray on some models but I'd still prefer powder black. The angular bars for the passenger footpeg are MUCH better than the old wavy organic looking crap.

I really want to see 4-cylinder 250. Just like it's last ZX250R. I don't mid if its carb or no carb at all. as long as it's 4 inline/v.

Do you think transplating a previous gen zx250r engine into EX250r chasis will work? hmm i wonder...

Notice the bottom fairings on the black have a matted finish on 1/2. I thought it was a reflection, until I saw other angles.

I don't know if I like it, but I don't know if I hate it yet either. I think it is one of those things you would have to see in person.

That half matte on the black doesn't look too bad, at least SOMETHING changed visually.

I would sure love to see some other colors though.

It's about time they fixed the out-of-place overly-chromed exhaust.

i was hoping for FI also. why wouldn't kawasaki offer a real 'limited edition' version of the 250r with FI? the special green paint with black and white accents is nice and all, and maybe worth the $300 extra. But why not release 50 FI bikes into the US and see how everyone responds?

i would go for it...would you?

Only if it did not result in lower power or torque.

Didn't I read somewhere that the FI bikes are down on power relative to the carbureted ones?

Carbs work fine. Aside from not having to use the choke to start the bike (which is trivial) and elimination of maintenance items (which is less trivial), what do you see as the benefit of FI?

i'm not worried about speed, maybe some others are...but if i we're inclined to go fast i'd buy a 650 with FI. i know that isn't nowhere near your point, but there is always money to be made in aftermarket parts that could enhance hp. i do appreciate the carbureted motor, don't get me wrong, there's something about the 'zen' of waiting for your bike to warm up.

i was doing a bit of research about the CDI problems on these boards...would FI actually get rid of that timing issue?

in the very least, i'm a hippie at heart and would like to contribute to a cleaner environemnt. maybe i should move to europe or japan.

If they sent 50 over, obviously they would all sell. It's not hard to sell 50 bikes total nationwide so a limited release would do nothing.

Funny you should say that.... I almost looked seriously at that bike, but that is why I didn't. Cosmetic, yes.... but if buying a new bike, you have got to be happy with it.

Better fuel economy.

...but confuse the hell out of any service centers working on them and require a new US service manual for a measley few bikes.

of course 50 bikes will sell, that's besides the point. the point of a 'limited edition' bike is that there is a need/desire for them above and beyond the supply, with special features of course. if the number isn't 50 then we can make it 500 or 5,000 for that matter and test the market. if the response is high then develop the product (which is already developed), if not send the surplus over to europe, japan, taiwan, china, russia, india, australia...anywhere.

furthermore, if mechanics can't understand the service manual then they can call their kawi rep who can make a call to someone in england and who have already resolved almost of the issues.

i guess what i'm most frustrated with is that the bottom line for kawi is selling bikes, and 90% of the people who're just starting out will always lean towards something that looks cool - me included. they've got the market cornered...more power to them.

It's my understanding that the manufacturer has to pay a large amount for emissions certification of every model they import. The carb'd model is already paid for. An FI model equals more money to pay, but the carb is already selling well, so why do it.

2010 will ONLY come in PINK color, with PINK rimstripes & PINK rear seat cowl!

Also it will have white lettering in place of "Ninja" instead reading "Samurai"

If the muffler were all black, it would look great, but that looks terrible.

Both SE graphics make what was a very sleek bike look like a cheap toy. I never thought they'd top the travesty that was last year's green, but they sure did. Solid colors, please!

Ugh...just glad I bought in '09!
