Question about chain slack for a track bike
so I have just put on a new 520 O-ring chain with 1 track days worth of wear on it.
I am going to a smaller track saturday and wanted to go from a 45T to 47T rear sprocket. After I put the 47T on, without tightening the axle I get 20mm of slack. So my question is this. I can get a new chain from amazon tomorrow, and get a 120 link and use my chain breaker to shrink it. What should I shoot for? 108 links? Thanks! |

Or figure out ratios that always swap a smaller front and larger rear, keeping the chain adjustment within range.

Not terrible, but I'd rather not have to deal with rivets or master links with each ratio change. It's entirely possible though, that you can change a tooth up or down and not have to change chain length.
