Draining fuel on lower Carburetors ? Ninja 250 2006
Does anyone know what position the Fuel Petcock should be when draining the fuel from the (2) lower Carburetor Fuel Drains? I think the manual says PRI. But the 2006 250 only has OFF - ON and RES.
Thanks in advance. . . . Ray- |

Anything other than Prime is fine, as long as your vacuum-actuated petcock is working properly. It closes when there's no engine vacuum applied. Turn it Off just to be safe.
On models with Prime, that will allow fuel to flow without any vacuum applied, for refilling the carbs after they've been drained. On models without Prime, you'll need to apply vacuum to the petcock (either manually or by cranking the engine for a little bit) to allow the carbs to refill.

So, I drained each Fuel Drain on the Carburetors, and found a little sediment in one and a little water in the other. . . And wow!!! What a difference it made! The engine definitely idles way better and the throttle has become a bit more responsive in lower RPM's. . .
I kept the Petcock in the ON position, . . so, I'm still not sure if I should have turned it to the OFF position, . . But, either way, it definitely made a difference. . |
