The entire thread deserves its own brand-spanking new facepalm animated gif. We should have a contest.

(P.S. That road he crashed on is a stone's throw from ninjette.org home base)

He wouldn't have rolled down anyway, or if he did, it would have been in pieces since that looks like barbed wire in the way

Ant on that thread (one of the first posters on the first page) is the guy that stayed and gave a witness statement to the cop when my husband was hit by the minivan up at Alice's. He's a top notch guy.

I'm not sure I totally see the problem. I haven't read the whole thread though.

He pulled a newbie mistake and crashed his bike. Ok, fine. He wasn't wearing his gear which was pretty stupid. He turns around and sells it to some unsuspecting kid for $3,900. Sure, it's a pretty douchy move, but it's that kid's fault for not knowing what he bought. If the kid was stupid enough to buy it, that's his problem. Most people are smart enough to research this stuff on their own.

He then buys another 250, and learns to do wheelies. So? I learned how to do wheelies on mine too. The 250 isn't exactly going to power wheelie in the middle of the road, what's the harm with having some fun in a parking lot?

Do I like him? No. But whatever, his life, leave him be.

EDIT: Looks like a lot of his posts were edited, which is why I'm not seeing the context of all of this.

If you really read through it you'll see he's just a douche even to the people that helped him.

Michael's response to this may have been harsh but your own post was over the line. We should welcome that rider and give him advice, not criticize him and wish him harm to stroke our own egos.

Geez. I wasnt sure what to expect but that surprised me. I was worried knowing there was going to be a crash, I thought he was going to go over the double yellow and smack into someone.

One lucky guy, that's for sure. Not sure how you can not pay attention to where you're going. I can imagine taking a turn and sliding out but how do you just roll off the edge?

You know I have asked myself that question alot of times. In a cage, I can look around and keep the wheel straight and continue on. On a bike things are totally different, but I can still do a lane check and keep it between the lines. The time the rider took in the video to view the scenic overlook was about the same time as a lane check. So dunno....

He's too tough for things like ... gear ... an attention span ... knowing how to steer a motorcycle ... knowing how to recover a motorcycle after you crash it ... knowing when to maybe try learning something instead of just buying a new bike and immediately trying to wheelie it ... hmm wait a second here...

Ever think someone might buy a motorcycle just to learn to wheelie? Too close minded?
Does it cross you that people might buy a motorcycle just to wheelie and not know it needs special skills to ride it over a dirtbike they rode 10 years ago?
Does it really matter all that much what they do with their bike in a parking lot or if they learn to ride it first or need to learn a lesson by crashing it?
It looks to me like a happy kid riding his bike who looked away for half a second.
I don't watch it with volume on my laptop though..
That could happen so easily to anybody on a freak whim.
Don't like it, get off two wheels.

I'm not going to waste any time reading the thread full of losers bagging on him. Get a life.
When you have one, you'll understand it's all about learning.
Get to it.

"I'll fart on your grave."
is that why he illustrated absolutely no resolve to attempt to learn? what he showed was that he thought he knew it all already because he had the money to spend on a bike, wanted to go out and "have some fun" as you say at the expensive of not only himself and his poor bike, but potentially others. what would have happened if he hit someone? how about the fact that squids like him diminish the public view of riders? most people who aren't interested in motorcycles don't know the difference between a squid wearing a tank top and flipflops riding like an idiot and someone who takes proper precautions and actually tries to learn how to ride properly before jumping head-first into a truck, or in this case, off of a cliff.

to say that people driving dangerously doesn't effect others is ignorance. it doesn't matter if you're on a bike or in a car.

and no, not paying attention to where you're driving, and then running off the road doesn't "happen to anyone". you have to stop paying attention, and ride off the road for it to happen. to say that its a random freak occurance is ridiculous.

Read 30 pages. Dicks, all around (yes, the OP too). There were only a few mature responders.

I LOL'd though when someone tried to blame our current economic situation on capitalism. :P That's the Bay Area for you (not you, Alex ). I mean, it must be fact because corporations and people with money are evil!

Uh... well.. yeah it really does matter... Even if someone wants a bike just to learn to wheelie, they should learn to control the bike completely first otherwise they're not only putting their lives in danger, but the peoples lives around them. In the wheelie video at one point someone was walking by while he tried to wheelie. What if he lost control, the bike slid out and hit the passer? Part of being a good driver is keeping yourself safe while making decisions that wont harm others. If he wants to just learn to wheelie, do it on a dirt bike or something, somewhere where others safety is not a fact.

But, by the vid in the OP of this forum, I really cant see much wrong. He was a squid for weaving and not wearing ATGATT, but when he crashed it does look like he looked away for a second and then was S.O.L. I think any noob could make a mistake like that.

I couldn't watch the video. I had to run to the bathroom and puke from the music.

Was that a 600 he was on?

Yes, I suppose any new rider could do that but you would think a new rider would be, em, paying a bit more attention to what was going on, all things considered. Right before his drop he was having trouble staying on his side of the yellow. Was that from attention span or bike control issues? I'm thinking attention span.

What really bugged me about the video was that after the guy crashed, he seemed more interested in capturing a movie of the good sams from barf working their butts off to get his bike back up on the road. You would have thought that he might have pitched in the help a bit.

Yep, that was one of the things that bugged the hell out of me too. When I had my low-side back in May, I was trying to help out with getting my bike back on the road but the other riders with me just kept telling me to sit down and relax and let the adrenaline work out of my system - I was still pretty jittery - and make sure I was okay. By the time I calmed down they'd already had my bike back up on the side of the road trying to get it started. I was fine after about 10 minutes or so and after that I was over there doing what I could to get us all on the road again. No way in hell would I have just stood there and let everyone else do the work.

I like the guy's Super Mario World T-shirt, though.
