What's it worth?
Hey guys, I am trying to sell my pre gen to either buy a newer 250 or upgrade to a 600, not sure yet.
I am trying to sell it for about $2,000 which is what i got it for. I got it at 6800 miles. Stuff around here costs a little more than some places for some reason. People with 08/09 ninjas want $3500 for them with 8k miles. No way, I'd buy a new one! Anyway here it is. I would appreciate any help of what i should be asking for. Up for sale is my very clean 2005 Ninja 250. The bike is literally Perfect besides a few cosmetic issues listed below. This is only up for sale because I am willing to upgrade to a bigger or newer bike. Mileage: 9500 miles, this will rise as I continue to ride. Newer tires that still look brand new tread-wise. Brakes are good. Chain is good. Fresh oil change 80 miles ago, Mobil 1 synthetic. No oil/gas leaks. Starts cold without the choke. Also no exhaust smoke. Tops at about 105mph. Weighs 306lbs, cheap insurance, currently getting 63mpg. Drives straight as an arrow, doesn't shake, turns smooth. Modifications: Fender eliminator, original fender included. Front signals switched to clear, original amber lenses included. Rear marker lights switched to clear, original red lenses included. Green reflective wheel tape. Bottom fairing was painted black, these originally came silver on the black bikes and didn't look right. NO engine/exhaust/drive modifications. All 3 of these mishaps were from the bike falling over, this was with the first owner. The only issues are the scuff on the top fairing pictured in the fourth picture. A few scratches on the front corner of the front fender. One tiny dent in the gas tank from the horn button. Here are some pics Any help is appreciated! I don't wanna lose too much because I know if I hang onto it till spring I could probably get what I am asking for it. But now is when bikes are cheaper and I can get one quick. Friend is selling a 2003 r6 limited edition with a yoshi exhuast for $3500. Looks great but I think I wanna stay with Kawasaki :P |

I sold an '05 in perfect shape with 5,000 miles for $1900 back in 2008. I probably should have held firm at 2 grand. Since it's the end of the season, you're going to take a bit of a hit...I know I did....but I did turn around and buy a cbr600 in the dead of winter for a steal. So I would sell immediately and if you take a hit, and at least you'll know you're going into a great season to buy your next bike. I would list your bike at 1950 and 1st to offer 1800 takes it.

I got an updated pic, also had a guy offer me $1500. No way!
I must say it is indeed a very sharp bike, I am at 9.6k miles now I currently have it listed for $2200, maybe I will get a low ball offer for $1800 ish and call it good. I owe $1650 on the loan I took out for it a few months back. That is the LEAST I would take and I don't want to be anywhere near that I figure the slight loss I may take on this was worth the learning experience and I will make up for it on my new bike Though I think I have decided on my new bike and it's not a Kawasaki. Friend is selling a 2003 R6 Limited Edition with 12k miles (kbb says it should have 17k) for $3500. KBB says excellent with 17k miles is worth $3455. So I would say it is worth the extra $45 for 5k less miles, the yoshi pipe and the power commander. |
