Alright guys, fill me in. Heard rumors that Nitto Jr. got hurt pretty bad. Any details what happened? Heard lots of people crashed...Nitto Jr., J. Hong, Max, Shane, Andrew Zabzydr, etc.

Fill me in with the details. How was the Steve Holt Fuzzbutt Memorial...what all happened?

Not sure how Nitto crashed but he broke his leg and had a bone sticking out of his finger - had surgery this morning and is recovering nicely. Hong crashed twice - his crash today in 15 resulted in a broken rib from a very fast low side. Max crashed in the pits again. Shane I think just lost the front and had a small lowside in 7. Andrew Zavzydr got hit by a flying bike from someone who lost it in 16 and was transported for evaluation because his back hurt I think but he was moving around and responding.

The Fuzzbutt memorial was a moving tribute. Nitto Sr did a few laps around the track with Holt's race # on his bike (I'll post the pic on your facebook) His wife made a short speech with the sound of Nitto blasting around the track in the background and scattered his ashes just as Walt flew through the finish line. It was very cool.

Also I didn't crash in the pits. I low-sided in turn 16 but my bike somehow high-sided. (wut?) raped my front end and smashed my gas tank/right side.

I got my first DNF T_T

Definitely some rough times on the track all around this weekend, but always great times off it. The mojitos and kabobs were delicious enough to make it all better- thanks again Bryan and Kit!

It's gonna be a long wait til the next miserably hot as balls round in september

Jr highsided on the exit of turn 16 in qualifying. Just set a new PB with a 1:52.03 then lost the rear. Right hand pinky finger was a compound fracture that required surgery with three pins installed. The right leg was broken at the fibula and is now casted.

Steve's Memorial was very touching and emotional for a whole lot of people. Here's a picture of the tail section of my bike for that weekend.

The Fuzzbutt Memorial was a nice touch

Seem like the 250 crew had a lot crashes Sorry to hear about your ribs Nem, speaking of fractured/broken ribs. You guys know of good protection for the ribs?

I didn't like the news of the used tire thefts , I'm think of locking up the genny and tools at night from now on.

Ouch!!! That sux. I'm mailing the crutch pads and pockets he let me borrow later today if I can or guaranteed to be shipped tomorrow.

What the hell?!? Someone stealing tires now?!? I would hate for this track to be like Vegas where people's **** is getting stolen.

I wish I could have been there to spectate and watch Fuzzbutt's memorial. We were thinking about coming out to just spectate but Sofia got sick and is still battling a wicked cough.

As for good protection for the ribs, the chest armor I wear from Impact Armor has good rib protection. Knox also has a chest armor that wraps around the ribs. I still have my Knox chest protector. It's barely used. If you want it I can sell it to you for like $30 if you want it. I found a tad too bulky for me and it wouldnt fit well with my Dainese suit I had. It might fit you well.

Yeah, we missed you Matt. I did'nt provide much sport for Dino in the middle gap area, although Kit might have. . .
As for chest protection, I'm the king of over-protection. I run a Dainese Wave 2 back and chest protector, under a Safermoto airbag vest. Its bulky-hot-uncomfortable, but good piece of mind, and I just accept it as part of racing.
On my first and only low-side, the airbags didn't deploy, mostly due to the stupid engineering of the tether that didn't activate the vest on get-off.
Injuries suck big-time, and I try to avoid them every way I can, but they'll happen to all of us as long as we ride, can't get too freaked on it (although I think I did this weekend).

Hope Nem's breathin' easier, and Jr. is doin' OK.

Well another way to look at it Darren is you're Forever 1st........for someone weighing more than 150 pounds. I doubt any of the front three even weigh that much so you're spotting them quite a bit in the HP to Weight ratio.

I'm considering joining the party next season but since I'm not that much lighter then you the HP to Weight deal concerns me.

I just want to thank all of you for coming out this season to race. You all did well (most of you set your PR this last round) which was awesome to hear. Also it was a pleasure to race and pit with you all.

We always have the most consistent showing, if not the biggest on the grid of all classes, and that says a lot about our class.

Next year should be an awesome year for you all (Expert & Amateurs) as CVMA has a lot in store for you guys in respect to contingency/awards. More info to follow soon.

Hmm, a few are sowing seeds of insurrection and hints of departure, no one asked me but Jon, Josh and Darren are the heart and soul of this class, and all have hinted towards going in different directions (ie classes?), whats goin on here peeps? I think everyone needs to step back and relax for a bit, do all the reflection/re-evaluation stuff later, and just enjoy the break.

Remember, this is the funnest, safest, cheapest and friendliest class out there. I think its really cool that we don't have to break the bank or put our lives on the line to have fun, but it can get tedious at times when ya can't just flog the throttle and go fast, this is more a a strategy/chessman's class, where getting better on the little bikes will probably make us better on any bike, but not at the high cost of the bigger guys.

Just some thoughts as I myself look at what I did this year (or didn't). . .

Just some thoughts as I myself look at what I did this year (or didn't). . .
LOL, even if i run big bikes ever again, have no fear, the 250 will be in full effect as well.
Gotta pay for big bike tires somehow......love you cyclemall contingency

I think it's a natural progression for the top 250 racers to move onto to bigger bikes (SV650/600cc/1000/etc.). Kinda like how Moto3 racers graduate to the Moto2 class, and so on.

In return, this will give the upper midpack and midpack racers a chance to podium and fight for the championship.

I have no doubt the top 250 racers should they move up would be just as competitive on the bigger cc classes.

Then again I guess we can phoeva sandbag. LOL!

If I only did was trackdays, then I'd probably move up to a bigger bike (SV650)

For racing,
600: Hell no! Too dangerous. Too many moments
650: Nuclear Arms Race. Also, it seems like their grids are getting smaller. F-Twins had 9 on Sat and 5 on Sun.

At the end of the race day, I want to be able to walk home and still have cash in my pocket.
Besides, the 250 group has the best community vibe on the paddock.

I can't wait until I can join you guys and actually race. Until then I'll probably just run track days and be a pit monkey.

Plus Juan. If I was only doing trackdays, I want the new 2013 Daytona 675R

For Racing, the Ninja 250 is tons of fun. I just need to develop a lot of things to be able to be a front runner. Ive got my work cut out for me.

When I was racing the D675, I was barely getting by financially because of how much it costs to race it...the tires alone on a 600 are a lot and do not last as long as they do the 250. I knew that I couldn't race the 600s forever and had a feeling that I would race for maybe one season and then have to take a break from it and reevaluate. My goal was to get enough points to get to expert and then reevaluate. Suffice to say, people that know my story--that fate kicked and told me that will not happen. It was a no-brainer to race a different class. I came close to racing the SV650s because Sofia said she would sell her 2003 to me for a steal. However I didn't want to somehow develop some rivalry since both of us are competitive. There were times we were going back and forth with lap times on my D675 and her on the SV650 so I could imagine it would have been worst on the same class of bike.

Racing a Ninja 250 is more financially manageable and much easier to DIY maintenance. I just don't want it to become another nuclear arms race like the SV650s

Pouya did a 2:12 flat. And Jimenez did a 2:15 I think?

They are by no definition slow any more...

Only ones who are considered slow are those who crash during qualifying, in the pits, and who do cameo appearances and say they're thinking about retiring.
