I received my cruise control today and so thought I would go test it tonight. The fact that it is dark, cold, and foggy did not deter me. The fact that my visor and glasses fogged up so bad that I could not see through either and my headlights could not reach more than 20 feet however did.

Tonight's ride is filed under S… for scary stupid s### I've done on two wheels.

They seem to be a lot more "horizontal" than the stock mirrors. Definitely digging the look, but it will take some getting used to the new location.

Today I put some Redex Fuel Injector Cleaner in my ninjette.

I've rode 1000+ miles so I felt maybe a bit of carbon or coating may have built up in the engine, and this stuff can't so any harm and is cheap so I gave it a go.

My ninjette seems to be pulling slightly better at lower rpm's, it starts a fraction easier from cold and runs better from cold, and feels less lean all-round.

Recommended!

You live in america right?

You can get fuel system cleaners for carbed models no problem, I hear of a good product called Seafoam which does the same thing, I would have used it but it's not available here, I don't know is Redex is available in America but they do a non-injector one also.

Replaced my clutch plates and springs, that paper gasket is a bitch to get completely off. Used a light application of Yamabond 4 sealant on the 2 points of the cover.

However, the clutch does not fully disengage when the lever is pulled in. I coated each disc with oil before putting them in so I think the problem is with the clutch spring bolts.

According to this picture, in order for the clutch to fully disengage with the lever pulled in, the springs need to compress enough to let the plates separate? So if I tightened down the spring bolts too much, the springs are already compressed too much to the point where the plates will never fully disengage? The clutch pull with the Barnett springs felt WAY more than 10-15% more stiff and slightly longer compared to OEM. Come to think of it, those bolts came off a lot easier compared to when I was tightening them down...

I just put fresh oil and a filter in, I'll take off the clutch cover again tomorrow and re-do the clutch spring bolts without doing a full oil change.

Zip tie throttle mod. Excellent throttle response now. Have to get used to not having to flick the throttle back in place as well as not having to preload the throttle to get rid of the play.

Clutch spring bolts are ether tight or not there's no room for adjustment I believe your problem lies else where.

It you clutch cable free play properly adjusted?

My clutch cable was recently replaced and I adjusted it to remove any free play at the clutch clevis end by pushing the clevis forward towards the front of the bike eliminating any free play. I have adjusted the lock nuts to the absolute extreme, as at the actual clutch lever there is barely enough slack to wiggle the lever, indicating that the clutch is fully ENGAGED when the lever isn't touched. I also adjusted my clutch lever wayyyyyy out and it gets to about 95% disengaged when pulled in, but the lever travel is insanely huge and overly difficult to pull with my hand. It seems that it IS possible to almost fully disengage my clutch although it is difficult.

I adjusted my clutch cable according to this: http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Adjusting_the_clutch_cable

It's difficult to describe, but since the clutch never fully disengages, I would have expected it to fully engage right as I let the clutch lever out and not only at the end of the lever throw. I'll try to elaborate below:

Lever 0% out: Clutch is about 80% disengaged, RPMs drop a little, engine pitch drops and bike wants to crawl forward. If brakes are applied, the engine fights to not stall.

Lever 1-75% out: Same as above.

Lever 76-100% out: Standard friction zone, bike is able to pull away as usual my modulating the clutch/throttle.

I sort of expected it to begin to fully engage at the very onset of letting the clutch lever out with my problems.

The clutch release shaft only goes into the clutch cover one way, is that correct? Maybe I have it 180 degrees in the other direction or something. I did pull the shaft out to remove the actual cable. Same for the clutch push rod, that fell out when setting the pressure plate aside, I put it into place and may have overlooked any indentations or markings on the rod.

Basically re-did the work that I performed yesterday.

Before doing anything I started the bike up and noticed that the clutch was significantly improved, but was disengaging about 90% of the way with the symptoms I stated above. Maybe the clutch plates sitting in oil overnight helped with the possible binding?

I double checked my plates to see that they were in the correct orientation and bolted everything back up. Took my time with the clutch plate bolts, torquing them evenly with a star pattern until they were snug and thankfully the paper gasket didn't rip off when I removed the clutch cover. Lost about half a quart of oil but I had Rotella T6 on hand. No oil leaks when putting the clutch cover back on. I paid special attention to the clutch release lever/clevis and made sure it was properly interfacing with the clutch rod and was able to adjust the clutch cable near the bottom so that proper free play was achieved at the lever.

Upon first start up I had the same symptoms but they gradually went away as the engine warmed up. The clutch lever pull was extremely light compared to yesterday where I had to squeeze the hell out of it, the lever is definitely stiffer but not too stiff to the point where it tires out the hand after multiple pulls. It got to the point where I could adjust the clutch lever so that I could comfortably pull the lever compared to how I previously had to adjust the clutch wayyyyyy out to get complete disengagement.

Everything seems alright now, even though I don't know exactly what caused the problems in the first place.

Other than about half a quart of oil and an hour lost, glad to have fixed this.
