There are lots of great roads on the south shore. I lived in Milton for years. The Blue Hills are great to ride (Chickatawbut Rd). If you tell me about where you are I can tell you where I used to ride.
It is still only April. The roads are still covered with sand, pot holes, and the weather is still cold so the roads don't have much grip. Stay off the numbered roads and you won't have to deal with too much traffic. Learn to use a map to find back streets between different towns. When you ride a motorcycle you are never lost, you are just finding new ways to get places.

Right now I just need to practice, practice and practice so hopefully when the weather gets a little better I will be ready for those roads. Missing Boston's weather at all?? |

Welcome to the 250 club!! It's the best, but I may be a bit biased
I'm 5'3" and it can be a bit nerve wracking at first to not have both feet planted firmly. Ride, ride, ride and you won't even notice it after a while. Best thing I do to up my confidence in that arena is to practice in a small parking lot. Stops, turns, figure eights, and circles. Really helps get clutch down and the confidence.

But enough dreaming I need more riding before I decide. My fiance has a BADASS ZX1200 and I don't think I will ever go higher than a 600 but I'd like to get something that somewhat compliments his bike |

Huh.... the only local shop that had a white 300 said it was special edition, that the green/ black combo was standard. The white ones are scarce up here, my mistake then!

Hello and welcome aboard Anju! Do watch twist of the wrist 2 on DVD. It will teach you loads about riding safely. Are you of Indian origin?

Trust me there's nothing "badass" about riding a big bike, it's how you handle that bike that matters. I'm sure a lot of members on this site on their 250s will be able to hold their own against a "badass" zx12 if taken to a track. Just get a bike that compliments you and forget about anything else. Good luck!!!

Lots of good info here. I guess I'll toss in my 2 cents.
1. ATGATT. If it's too hot for gear, it's too hot to ride. One of my friends almost died, learned it the hard way. Physically may never be able to ride again. 2. Don't push your limits. Ride how you feel comfortable. Better to go into a turn slow and be able to add throttle then go in too hot and something bad happen. 3. LOOK where you want to go. Like they taught you in MSF, always look through the turn. 4. Crack the throttle open before a turn and maintain or roll on the whole way through. 5. Watch Twist of the Wrist II. When you're done, watch it again. After that, read the book. Welcome to the world of two wheels. Be safe and have fun! Lemme know if you're ever down DC way!
