Can anyone recommend an alarm system?

I want to discourage people from playing with my motorcycle while it's out of my view. I've been using a Xena alarm disc lock, and it works okay and I'd say I've gotten my $60 worth. However, I'd like to upgrade to something that will make someone crap a hole through their pants, if possible. A lot of people think the Xena is loud. It's kind of loud, but I need louder. Something that sends notifications to my phone, if possible.

I have Xena too that my brother got me couple years ago. Yes, it's loud, but in narrow range of frequencies, so not as over-powering as can be.

I think it's going to take 2nd alarm for SMS alerts like you want. This feature is typically bundled with silent GPS-based alarms that send:

- alert that your bike has been tampered with
- alert with GPS-coordinates of your bike

I even saw micro unit that fits underneath bicycle seats. However, that one requires communicating on mesh-network of other identical alarms. Otherwise it's blind. I think cell-based one will be better.

The notifying me part of it is kind of a pipe-dream I guess. My bike is being tampered with by (I suspect) the same person. I just need to give someone a stern talking-to (I'm in California where theft is completely legal and personal property is a fake concept). The Gorilla alarms look promising but they require the user to carry a separate receiver. I may settle for that as I don't think I'll need to carry it all the time. One confrontation ought to solve it.

Do you store bike somewhere that can be covered by camera system?

Any notifications type of alarm is going to require a monthly fee. A lot of them aren't cheap either.

I ride from store to store. I work as a merchandiser. So kind of; the stores aren't forthcoming with any surveillance unless it's subpoenaed.

I use the Scorpio Ride, which they've since rebranded the https://rlink.com/ -- I think there's an audible alarm accessory (at least pre-rebranding) but the GPS features are what I got it for and it's been well worth it.
