My Turn to bite the dust!

Okay, After about 57 days since I got the Ninjette and about 740 miles of riding later - I crashed!

There is a traffic roundabout that I ride everyday, today I decided to do it different - try to hang off the bike while I attempt to go around.

Only this time I hung off the bike while entering the circle, and result ientered with a higher speed than normal. Before I could switch and hang on the other side to go the other way around, i found myself going high speed towards the pavement - grabbed the brakes, wheels skid, I thought I was able to catch it in the end.. but then splat on the tarmac.

It was a pretty lowspeed low side crash. minor, scratches to the rear fairing, front fairing, handle bar end, clutch lever end, gear change lever end and footpeg scraper.

I was STGATT (some) not ATGATT.. The gear (Helmet, Glove, Heavy Jacket, Denim Trousers) saved any major road rash. just got up , dusted myself and proceeded on.

I fell perhaps less than half a mile from home..the thought of going back and taking the car crossed my mind, but decided to get over it and ride on to work 12 miles away.

What should i have done differently? NOT try and practice hanging off near a rotary.. if it was a place with no curbs, I would have at the most gone outside a line and not had to slam the brakes..

1) watch twist of the wrist II
2) keep track riding, at the track

Glad you made it out alright. I crashed my ninjette a week into having bought it... Lol slammed brakes in the middle of a puddle... Good luck

Damn JPBear! Sorry to hear about this. Glad you're alright.

Doesn't sound like much damage but I know it must suck to have your bike go down.

One thing I had learned from my "usual routes" is never get too comfortable. And if I want to practice a new technique I usually go to a large parking lot and test it out there before taking it to the street. Helps boost my confidence level and gets me away from other drivers/riders.
