Anyone going to moto gymkhana practice tomorrow? If it's not going to rain I should be there.

So I went down to Revzilla today and got a new jacket and new boots. Figured I'd stop by New Hope since I was down there. Then when I was in New Hope figured I might as well head up to Easton. Then since I was in Easton I might as well head up to...

This went on until I finally worked my way up to Hawk's Nest and out to Barryville. Hawk's Nest was great, but it was only a 1/2 mile long! To be honest it was a bit of a let down. I stuck to main roads but there seems like there are some great back roads around there that are probably worth exploring.

I also ran my front tire down to the wear bars. I don't know why I didn't just buy a front when I bought a rear.

whoa...that was a long day ! When you got to Barryville...did you go east at the the bridge ? I think that's the beginning of 52 and the first 10 miles are excellent. The 300...yeah...will prob ride to PA next saturday IF they get it next week...$4600...no prep...black vs $5400 on LI. About 650 mile RT but I'll save $600+ so it's worth a day. Although I would preferred a '12 250 the least I could find one at a dealer was $4640 tax included and,,,,WTF...when the arithmetic was done...the 300 cost me about $500 more so that's what I'm getting. Although....the 300 has 2 recalls ABS and ECU and there is a known prob with steering head bearings. Decided to take my chances as bearing fix is about $50 if the prob comes up. I found a guy in PA....bought my first ninjette from him and too...he was $600 under LI prices.

I go over there pretty often to practice some turns in the field and also teach my friends a little how to ride, hit me up if you would like to meet up, check out bikes and etc.

@Panda... Did you do the whole route all the way up to Hancock/Rt 17?

On the map, at least, it looks like a fun road.

Hawks Nest sounds a bit like Storm King highway... similar length, similar profile.

I only made it as far as Barryville before I turned around. By that point I was 6 hours into the ride and running out of daylight.

You're right, Hawk's Nest is a little like Storm King. The tight technical part of HN is pretty short but there are some long, fast, sweepers for a good 15 miles or so up to Barryville. They're nice, but I was really hoping for a long stretch of tight, technical twisties.

Got it. Not to boar you with another picture of a 300, I did my first 52 miles around Pauxsutaney...or however you spell it.... chnaged the oil and trucked it home. Go it nice and dirty, scratched the plastic a little and never got above 6k. All the stuff kawi says about the bike is true...mid range is nicely improved but I do not like the slipper clutch...not used to it. In person....it's a really pretty bike. The 140 looks huge, FI is nice-er than the carb. The oil fllter is very easy to reach.I cant tell too much because I rode her gently but I think...I dunno....if it can take the whippin' the 250 did then it's going to be fun. If the 250 qualified as a beginner bike just because it had a small motor, then this is even better because the clutch is feather light and it has that mid range. From the sound of the pipes , the light clutch....the little lever that lets you blink HI.....even the reasonably un-ugly duck tail....it's a polite little bike.

tHANKS dAN....AS soon as I can Im going to try to get it off truck.
Big Run PA ( the area..I saw) is farm conutry...but with hills.PERFECTLY paved 2 lane blacktop and 15mph turns that are actually paved ( instead of the broken up roads up around BM)....In fact...picture miles and miles of the BM road. Roadsides are mainly dirt,,,very safe in a crash roads. No enforcement.I've never been on roads that couild be so much fun. The dirt turn-offs ALWayS have some sand at their beginning so your learn to watch for them but the few dirt paths I went down were not rutted so easily passable and everytime you come to a hilltop...there's a beautiful valley just ahead. I havent been many places so I cant say this is the most beautiful place in the world but out of the places I've been...it might be. It's the combination of hills, perfect roads and hundredws or maybe thousands of acres of cornfields that knocked me out. Every part of my break in ride...the road, the sights , the smells was all something new. There;s a lot of Amish ( Plain People) farms....every one i saw was...perfect. No junked cars in the driveway, tractors parked straight..no half inflated swimming pools on the lawn...it was like everything was set up for a photo. Every farmer waved after I waved. As I stood by the roadside looking at a field...one of them asked me if i was looking for someone...I said no...he continued walking and added a "be careful". I spoke to one guy down a dirt road who had a sawmill...asked if i could take pix of the opeartion, he said No, it's against tradition...said I'd leave if i were you...I thanked him..he offered a "be careful". I was surprised by both replies. I stopped at a roadhouse to eat. Had a hamburger. There were 2 red ketchup bottles on the counter. Got mjy burger and picked up a red bottle to squirt ketchup on and green stuff came out. I was in such a good mood (the bike) that I wondered if it was green ketchup ( like we have on St Patricks day)...WTF. Went to wipe it off with my finger and it was sticky ansd slimy....it was dishwashing soap. So...I told the server to make me a new hamburger. No, it was absolutely not done on puirpose but...the kind of story that adds to the trip. Every single minute of going to get this bike was fun and i got it home last night.
Now...I gotta get it off the truck.

So based on what I've read about "2 million bikers" and "million muslim march" I've learned that muslims and bikers have something in common.

Neither group knows how to count.

We'd leave Long island about 10:30 but destination is not certain as steam trains and coal mines have schedules for tours that will be very hard to make leaving that late.
A NY to MA ( thru CT rt 7) ride is option 2....a west of hudson ride option 3.
If you want to go...wherever we end up...watch the board as I will prob have this set by 5:00 today...
TC and Panda....wheere you boys at ?
