2018 California Superbike School Schedule!!

Wooohoooo!! It's out The new 2018 California Superbike School is out!

I love this time of year when i get to go through my schedule and see how many of the dates I can manage to coach at. There was a time pre kids where I did them all, full time but alas, not able to do that anymore.

Anyhow, check it out, sign up if you like and maybe I'll see you there!

(PS) Let me know if you have any questions about the school as I've been coaching there for 14 years now.

Ride safe!

I'm definitely going to attend some!

What's the reason behind "our bike only"? That BMW monster scares me!!!

2 day camps are the 'elite' experience. Their bike means a more predictable set of bikes on the track, let's riders experience the S1000 (which is why BMW helps sponsor the school), and means if you wreck without injuring yourself you'll have a bike for the next day. The S1000 in rain mode is manageable, btw. I can dig up my 'afraid of the beast' post if you like.

The best thing about this post is the schedule is listed right in the post. No wait, it's not, so I figure I'll be smart and click on the link at the bottom of the post, blank page. So I'll figure I'll be lazy and ask if someone can add the link to the schedule so the next person can get right to the schedule.

I didn't want to get in trouble by posting the schedule or the link in case people freak out that I coach there and think I'm being all business and such by posting it. So someone else did it for me See below.

Should also re-check schedule on CSS site regularly to make sure they don't change anything.

Yes check regularly. They have not yet added all the Sonoma dates and more days may be added.

Nothing to be scared about with the BMW! It's an amazing machine and very user friendly. We start everyone in rain mode and move up accordingly. Our crash statistics have gone down considerably since switching from the 600's to the BMW 1000's.

Hope you make it to a school, it's good fun and you learn a ton too

I was completely floored by just how busy you were the entire day. I was completely worn out after the first day. I am glad I decided to only do the one. I will be more prepared for 2018 for sure.

It's only mental stress. Once you get used to it you won't be as tired. Unless you are really just out of shape!

Noted.... I am thinking 2 day for both of us. We are getting in better shape now, we will need the core strength and stamina.

Mental stamina is the biggest bit. For me the main physical need was actually mobility/flexibility but I have a solid core to start with so...

It is busy for sure. That's why we are always watching students to make sure they are drinking enough water and eating enough snacks and we always suggest pulling in early if they are feeling a bit tired. Most students do awesome though

Mostly mental stress. We cover a lot of information but pieced together in manageable chunks. It's fairly normal for students to go through a period in the day where they may feel like its info overload but that goes away the the pieces start to fit together and coaches remind them to not try so hard

2 days in a row is what I did for level 1 and 2 when I was a student. Then I went back for level 3 and 4 and I found it to be a perfect amount of information and riding. I was tired for sure but it was awesome! As coaches we do up to 5 days in a row now, hehehe. Often times riding 15 sessions a day. You get used to it!

Let me know if anyone ever has questions about the format of the school or what is included or not etc.

Signed up for Streets on March 18th and am waitlisted for the 17th. Was really hoping to do day 1 on my personal bike, Ninja 300, and then do day 2 on the BMW, but was slow on the draw in signing up.

Looking forward to it, and hopefully trying the slide bike. Potentially doing an ill-advised endurance race with friends on an R6 in late 2018, so I figured I should try to get some big bike seat time this year. Haha.

Awesome! And if you haven't already got a level 4 student that day yet... Haha.

I've always wondered how instructor pairings are done. And whether my L2 lowside in 2007 still factors in.

Wooohooo!! Feel free to make an instructor request if you like

Instructor pairings are done pretty randomly actually, just based on how many students and levels and if there are any requests. As a coach we pretty much just get who we get and off we go

And no your low side from 11 years ago will not factor in at all, just don't do it again
