Question melted rubber on exhaust--- how to remove

Hey

I have some what i can assume is melted rubber scuffs on my exhaust
what is the best way of removing it ?

It's available at any Auto Parts store or Wal-Mart if you have those. LOL

My favorites are "000" steel wool, or Soft Scrub on a blue Scotchbrite kitchen sponge.

Those might be good for the exhaust tubing but are they too harsh for the chrome pieces on the muffler?

000 steel wool is so fine that it won't scratch, and the Scotchbrite sponge is safe for Teflon cookware. Neither have ever done anything to my chrome.
