Purchased used 2009 250. lights issue
Hey guys, first post. I helped a friend buy her first bike a couple days ago and rode it home for her. It ran great even having sat for a year. Got a good deal on it but none of the signals work and also the high beam doesn't work. Fuses are fine. Main headlight, horn, fan, all good. Where to look next? relays?
Thanks, n |

do you have a test light, or multimeter? you could check for voltage at the light sockets. also check bulbs, unlikely that they are all blown, but i have seen an alternator on a truck overcharge and blow almost every bulb on the entire vehicle.
make sure turn sig's are connected, behind the fairings and under the rear seat. with a way to check for voltage, you can see where the voltage is, and where it is not, allows you to pin point what area or component is at fault |

If your bike has more than two relays, say the fan relay. If the fan works, the relay works. Swap the known good relay to the suspected relay. See if the fan still works with the suspect relay. And the turn signals work with the known good. You can test a relay, but requires hooking 12v to one pin, ground to another pin. And checking ohm's at the other two pins with a multimeter. That's the "correct" way. But I can tell you as a diesel mechanic, swapping with a known good is the fastest way to check your relay.
