Angry College fail.

I got screwed over registering for Organic Chemistry at a junior college. I rode through the pouring rain to get to campus to see what the deal was with all my unofficial transcripts someone finally said I could use them instead until they find my transcripts that were sent. Get there and they said I can't register because class had already started. Tried to see if there was a way I can still get in I had already emailed the professor about my issue with registering and asked what they went over in class so I could catch up. Tried calling the Dean of registration and not no answer nor voicemessage prompt so I left an email. Then Hauled ass to another college to see if I could register. Same issue too. Talked to the "dean" at this campus and he basically said no and to see if second start offers a class--no. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Looked at other colleges around Houston and nope. ****.

Cuong, that's not nice what happened to you and I wish you very good luck for your future (by the way, I wish that for everyone).
But let me tell you a story, what may sound like a fairytale, but believe it is not.
In Germany it is happening now, since everybody is going to study and nobody wants to have dirty hands from his/her job anymore (by the way, this are honest dirty hands) so the craft men are 'dying' and there's nearly nobody left to do some work on oldtimer cars anymore.
But those who are still alive are urgently needed from some companies and you know what they are paid for one hour working? It's 250 up to 500 USD for the high level specialist - for 1 hour working on old carbs and stuff like that and most of that work is not done in one hour.
In some very specialised craftman-jobs the payment is more than 1000 USD for one hour work with all cost for traveling ect paid. Some of them are also called from oversea companies to do there work at there branches with paid flights and everything else.
Maybe this could give you an idea.

I really need this class or else I'm pushed back a year or two to try and get into grad/med school. I got a lot going on this year so I guess I'll take sir Alex's advice for now. @somechai, if you know of an opening of such jobs let me know lol.

The dean emailed me back and and reiterated what has already been said and known. I don't see what the fuss is about with just letting me in a class. Do they not want my money? Do they not want to support education? I don't know.

Update.

I Am in the class. Talked to the chair on the phone and explained my situation and got the green light but needed to get there soon to sign paperwork before the offices closed and make it in time for class at 6. Got registered, paid and got books. In the scurry to get to the campus from work, I lost my phone on the highway. I was in a hurry to get there and didn't secure my phone in my jacket pocket and it fell out. Whyyyyyyy!!!!!! I normally secure it in my breast pocket but this time I did something out of the norm.

Happy I got in but not happy I lost my phone. I'm a mess.

I feel you so much that it'd probably make you uncomfortable. My college's registration system was designed by a ****ing monkey and it's ran by several of them.

Wut?

I'm talking about welders who are certified to make welds on components that go into use in nuke plants. Takes a lot of training, they're accountable (legally) for every weld they make. They may only make 3 welds in one day, but they have to do flawless work and they make bank. Only caveat is if they make one bad weld, they're A) out of a job and B) possibly going to jail.

Nuclear industry is fascinating. It's all about who has signature authority and the who/what/when/where/why/how details.

Nahhhhhhhh! Nuclear certified welder literally hundreds of dollars an hour, for maybe only one weld per day. Sounds great!!! Just be good at it.

First I've heard of this. I'm sure this takes years of experience and certs to get the title. The only welds I can do are Strong booger welds. Lightyears behind NASA grade lol.

Are there any schools in the quarter system in your area? They tend to start later than other schools do, around the end of September instead of mid August.

I haven't read all the other responses, but. have you looked into the possibility of doing this online at all? community college? do they offer this class in a summer or winter session? can you sit the exam without having taken the class?

That sucks--I had something similar happen to me while I was getting my degree. Basically had to spend a semester twiddling my thumbs until I could take the class again. Hope it works out.

Yeah, organic chemistry here isn't offered in non traditional schedules here in Houston already looked into it. So far, organic chemistry seems a whole lot easier than regular chemistry--which was what I took over ten years ago.

Organic chemistry is kind of cool. Although I didn't do all that well, grade-wise, a lot of it has remained in my head over the years. Alkanes, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, esters, ethers, polymers, glycols, phenols, isomers, steroids, etc.

Why do I retain all that crap?
