Which carrier do you prefer?

Given the choice, who do you like the best.

I have always had good luck with UPS and FedX. Always on time. USPS seems to be a little on the slow side with anything bigger than a letter.

I always get my fedex stuff late and damaged. UPS brings on the promised day in good condition, but verrrrrry late on that day.

I like FedEx but that may be because the company I work for paints their aircraft.

USPS because UPS and FedEx can sometimes be ridiculous with their duty charges.

Don't much care which is used. What I do care is that they provide tracking numbers. Sometimes I get better delivery from USPS, sometimes Fed Ex, sometimes UPS.... don't see much difference tho when sending out USPS can be a little cheaper and still get there in a 2 to 3 day window. What bugz me is if a signature is required and I'm not home....thats just inconvenient.

Yeah, UPS blows for international orders. Once I ordered a miniature hydroponic plant grow system, the costt was originally 40+ 25$ shipped, I ended up paying an extra 50$ is duty and taxes for total of 120$.. wtf.

Now that I have a hookup at UPS, i get that 35$ inspection fee removed.

Any carrier is fine, as long as there's a tracking number. UPS insures the first $100 automatically, which is nice, but damage claims are handled by the shipper which can be a PITA sometimes.

I prefer fedex or UPS only because they're estimated delivery is usually spot on. USPS delivers quickly to me, but it's always a guess as to when it'll show up.

for shipping stuff, fedex ground is cheaper than UPS and they also insure up to 100.

UPS. My stuff always shows up the same day, midday, in excellent condition or when I've shipped overseas I've never had any loss of confidence with them. Plus their delivery guys seem the most professional. They can be a little bit more $.

USPS people are nice too, and charge less, but it's a toss up as to when (not really "if" anymore) when you're stuff is going to arrive. I had shipped 4 wheels once and they arrived separate days in a span of two weeks. Wtf? Somebody told me they once shipped internationally to France (not recently) but their packaged was returned because people were on strike. So I tend to avoid USPS if other governments' postal networks seem unstable (possibility at the moment).

Fedex, ehh. People use them at work for medium sized + unimportant packages (cups for a coffee machine). The same principle applies to me. If I'm cheap and dont care (or have time to deal with bureaucracy) USPS. Stupid little things, Fedex. Something I place a high value on and need somebody I can trust to do the right thing if something goes wrong (ie legal papers), UPS.

UPS is the devil. A vast majority of what has been mailed to me via UPS has been damaged. It's impossible the file an insurance claim with them and I think the last time we did file one they never did refund us for the damaged material. The last package I got from them for my motorcycle jacket was so crushed that the box was physically open... yea I refuse to ship UPS.

I love USPS... that flat rate box is amazing, I've never had an issue with regular US Postal Service

I prefer USPS for general purpose, they are pretty quick for me and they deliver on Saturday!

UPS used to be great, but they are sliding towards suck-ness.

That is a good question. Within the US I prefer FEDEX, but International DHL is the only way to go.

Here's the deal, Ups is best for big packages, fed ex is great for fast delivery of documents. USPS is for letters and not caring when it gets there.

UPS has the largest fleet of vehicles, planes, trucks trains and whatnot. The other 2 actually rent space on UPS planes to transport their parcels.

UPS and FEDex are very comparable in their services.
USPS is the worst. Their tracking is 3rd world and their prices for larger packages are gastly. And they dont consider anything late until 21 days after its expected delivery date. The flat rate boxes can be either really good or a rip off. Often times smaller items in a flat rate box are cheaper in a non flat rate box. UPS will also soon offer flat rate shipping.
If your item is recieved damaged from any carrier, it is the responsibility of the shipper to pack the item correctly. "fragile" is a foriegn language for all parcel carriers. All packages will be treated the same unless you pay for a higher service. A properly packed item should have a minimum of 2" of approved packing material between the item and the box wall on all sides. A package should be able to withstand a fall from 6' (the top shelf of the delivery truck). UPS will honor claims for properly packed items, and i have had hundreds of dollars in claims payed out for damaged items packed correctly. the most common offense being a forklift split open the box and dumped out the peanuts and left no protection.
UPS will honor all claims of packages they lose, and will return shipping costs for late deliveries that aren't caused by adverse weather conditions or government agencies.
UPS and FEDEX offer superior service, and if your package is heavier than 4lbs and has a dimension larger that 12" they will most likely be chaper than USPS.
Dont blame the carrier for your shipper or whoever you buy your item from not properly packing the item.
If you lose an item or have one damaged by USPS, good luck getting any money. I have customers that have had items with tracking lost and no options for recourse. USPS has admitted to losing items and taken over a year to pay out.

For international shipping. USPS delivers your mail to the border of the recipient country, then the rest of the responsibility lies on the postal service of the recieving country you have no contact with. UPS and FEDEX deliver to the door of your recipient. keep in mind all international shipments are subjext to taxes, customs fees and duties determined by the customs agents of the recieving country.

Orders to Canada always USPS to bypass the duties and brokerage fees. Using the other carriers you can almost double your cost of the good you order stateside. May take longer but more money in my pocket.

the duties and such aren't in the shipping carrier's control, that's your canadian government at work. dont blame a shipping carrier for your country's taxes and duties. customs officers are pirates and charge what they want ups and fedex have no control over it.

No no, the brokerage fee is charged by the carrier, NOT the government. We don't mind paying taxes on items we import, everyone pays taxes. The problem is when UPS charges us an additional 35$ brokerage fee to sign some papers and stick it on the package.

I have a friend that works at UPS and an other that used to work at FedEx, so I always get the fee waived. If that wasn't the case, I would never, for my life have something shipped UPS/FedEx.
