NON-integrated LED taillight.

I have the hot bodies smoked undertail on my bike and have been pulled over a couple of times for the brake light being dim. I really like the look (not to mention brightness) of LEDs. Are there any straight up LED taillights that are really bright?

Yes they do make non-integrated tail lights. The search function is great.

on the other hand, you can just use a 2357 instead of a 1157. Brighter brake light filament. No mofication. And it only costs $3 for a pack.

You can also get one of these to put on top or bottom of your plate:

No, the smoked undertail covers the tail light, I have the stock light and bulb on the bike. The light has to come through the red plastic and then through the darkened plastic. I feel like red LEDs through a clear lens, then through the smoked plastic would be more visible. Im really not interested in an integrated tail since I like the blinkers on the undertail. I've searched pretty thoroughly, but only seem to find integrated tails, and some people even complain those are dim.

You can always buy an integrated light and not hook up the integrated signals.

That's because LED's are directional. They only send light where they're pointing, unlike an incandescent bulb, which sends light in every direction that gets bounced out the back by the reflector. During the day time, LED's can be hard to see unless you're right where it's aimed.

The simplest/brightest thing to do is buy a 2357 bulb for in the oem housing to replace the 1157 bulb. I have that in mine and it's BRIGHT.
