Anybody modify a chainguard?

OK.. so maybe I'm losing it.. but the chainguard on our beloved classic F bikes is somewhat boring...

After looking more and more at the new 250s, I like the chainguard look on those better.. more like the ZXs I guess..

Has anyone ever modified theirs in a similar way? Is this a moment of insanity? I'm thinkin of takin a dremel to mine and carefully making it look the same on teh lower edge..

I've seen a few people paint their chainguard to match the rest of the bodywork, at least on the 08s.

Modifying the chain guard is not a bad idea. It still serves its purpose and looks good doing it.

A few ounces maybe... I've actually considered doing this too. I'm waiting until after I get Fury airbrushed though, to see if we have extra paint to paint the chainguard.

Mine is warped enough just from basic use. I'd hate to see it start rubbing because I removed more material.

My Yoshi pipes would draw attention before the chain guard ever would.

Well I put the chainguard on today.. it is in perfect shape btw... with the stock pipes you can barely see it.. so figured it wasn't worth the work to modify it.. If I had a pipe on the bike that would be a different story...

I'm planning to get an AP exhaust though, so the chainguard would now be the center of attention on that side. So it's gotta end up looking a little different on my bike!
