Performance Data from MCN - Jan 2008

The following was included on the CD with "Proficient Motorcycling". Unfortunately, it doesn't have any Ninja 250s for any years. Check out the 0-60 times. WOW!

The latest issue of MCN has the '08 stats but they are not too impressive.

Torque = 13.6
Avg fuel econ. = 51.2mpg
0-60 mph = 7.72 sec.

Based on this, the Ninja 500 gets better gas mileage - 64 mpg!

Yeah, I wonder how accurate that mpg figure is. I have gotten a high of 62mpg during break-in and now average 55-57mpg.

I think the 250R feels faster than those 0-60 stats show. First gear is so low you use up time just shifting through the gears. Once up to speed the ninjette feels pretty quick, not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but it gets the job done.

We need to compare performance with other 250`s like the Rebel, V Star 250, Nighthawk 250, Suzuki, etc. You will find that the Ninjette is faster. Comparing our bikes against two litre lead sleds, is a venture in futility.

I wouldn't sweat it. Of all the bikes in that list, I owned one (ZX-12R) that had the 5th fastest 0-100 time (5.49 seconds). Only 4 other bikes on the planet faster, and then only by a tenth of a second.

For many types of street riding, I have as much fun on our ninjette as I did on the 12R. Power isn't everything. Sometimes the lack of it can even add to the fun as you work hard to extract every last ounce of it while riding a bike like ours.

I do better on mileage... Stop and go commuting I get a solid 62 MPG. Considering that about 25% is stopped, I think that ok. Bill
