try and check the sparkplugs.... i had an issue were me and uncgluck put in new spark plugs after my valve check and about a week or two later i was riding to school and i could feel that i was lacking power, later that day on my way home it got worse and eventually while sitting at a light it died, had a hard time starting, had to hold the throttle open abit to keep it from dieing and when i finally got home it died for good and wouldnt start

the culprit was that my number 2 cylinder plug had pretty much exploded... the ceramic completed cracked in two and left the electrode in the head.... ungluck eventually got it out with a flat blade screwdriver

yeah, that situation could've been baaaadd too. but all is well, i did some research after that and foudn that the particular spark plug in our bikes is known to "fragment" lol...i prefer kenji's phrasing of explode.

did you perhaps turn your fuel off by accident?

oh damn....that must have been irritating :/

GOOD NEWS!!! She starts and runs perfectly... Come to find out, my idle screw decided to play a prank on me and turn its self

How do i figure this?

-because of my continual attempts to start her, i flooded the motor.

-after doing the full throttle, then crank the motor...then full choke, no throttle and crank the motor (to de-flood the motor) she ran with the choke all the way up and idled rather low

-so, i adjust the idle screw and lower the choke until it idled at 1.5k

-let her idle for a few mins, while i put the seat back on, and side covers back on then take her for a few laps around my parking structure and re-adjust the idle to 1.5k

-because i have shogun frame sliders, the idle screw does touch the bar a little bit

-i concluded because of the vibrations from the bike, it managed to move enough to give me a temp. headache

Alex: if you feel this may be a good troubleshooting guide, please add to the wikki along with the other starting problem thread. thanks

They have some thumb adjust idle mix screws down at Bert's.
I wonder if they fit our bikes. I'd imagine they might.
Would makes things a world easier.

i don't think a low idle screw would cause your bike to die in 2nd or first gear. it sounds like it was temporarily clogged or something and all that cranking unclogged it

Also, if it happens again, remove your gas cap just in case the vent is clogged and you are getting a vacuum in there not letting the gas flow. Numerous threads about this on here.
