Help Idle!!

Hello guys, The idle on my ninja 250 is usually good (around 1400 rpm) but sometimes when i come to a stop it goes up to 2500 rpm, however if i engage the clutch a little bit and then release it it immediatly goes back to normal, what do you guys think is the problem?

Thanks!

One possibility is an air leak between the carbs and the cylinder head.

Welcome to the board, Dude!

very common scenarios worth checking and eliminating.......swollen hose ends on decel valve? ditto hoses between carbs or tiny one under decel valve? All sources of vac leaks.

Welcome! And where in NY are you? NYC? Upstate?

Hey guys, turns out the problem might be a dirty carburator, I ran some seafoam through it and the problem seems to be fixed (for now). Um, I live close to the GWB, but mostly I stay in NJ! Anybody that lives nearby, I'm looking for a group to ride!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I hope you're right, but there's nothing in that product that has much chance of cleaning a dirty carb. You can read the Seafoam MSDS and see what I mean.

Seafoam is good to use to prevent future problems, but it's not a fix all after the fact.

With just oil, Naptha, and isopropyl alcohol, I can't see how it would do much of anything beneficial. We all complain about alcohol in our fuel.

That stuff does have a chance of preventing and maybe slowly fixing fuel system problems.

The vital ingredient is PEA. Which is found in Techron Concentrate and Redline SL-1
