Hi Everyone!

My name is George and I'm hopefully going to purchase my first bike (Used 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250r) this Saturday!

Any advice on what to look for when checking out a used bike?

Check the chain for cleanliness, lubrication and slack. This will tell you a lot about how they took care of the things you can't see. If it's dry, grimy and loose, you'll probably want to do quite a few things to the bike when you buy it to be sure they're done.

Check tires for wear. Brakes for grooving. Oil for cleanliness. Brake fluid should be clear.

DO NOT try to shift it with the engine off....it won't work right. You can get it into first or maybe second but not the rest, this is normal, do not worry.

Obviously check all the lights work properly.

Miles and asking price, if you don't mind?

Sweet! So they are asking for $2400 and it is 12,800 miles.

Sounds about right for a West Coast bike, especially California. However, that's top dollar and it should be in excellent condition and need NOTHING. Tires are a couple hundred bucks...use it as a bargaining chip if they're worn.

SO I GOT IT! Managed to drop the bike to 2000 from 2400! Woot woot! Thanks for helping me save some money haha!
