Sad day, selling my 84 Porsche 911 :(

Well i decided to sell my 911 today once and for all. It is such a beautiful car but i just can't seem to sort out the convertible top leaks. The AC doesn't work and i SWEAT in the summer, and the footwell heaters ALWAYS blow hot air even when the heat is off. Plus i can't keep up with maintenance like valve adjustments every 10,000 miles. I've spent so much money on this car to get it to where it even is, but now that i have the bike i wont be able to keep up with the maintenance cost and sort out the issues on top of that. So here i sit in my room drinking beers wallowing away.

But there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, once/if the car sells on ebay, i've decided to buy an early Boxster, and keep myself in the porsche family! I will break even on price, and not have to worry about reliability or body work.

Seriously the 911 needs a new set of rocker panels welded in, we're looking at 2 grand to get the job done correctly which i don't have. Before it turns into a POS i'd rather someone else buy it who has the cash to invest in it and make it proper. I refuse to patch it up with mickey mouse band aids!

Anyway, just felt like venting. At least i get to look forward to msf this weekend and bringing in my paperwork monday for my bike licence! Then its open road with the NINJA!

That is a beautiful car. Thats the problem with German cars...and especially German sports cars. Even if you can afford to pick one up used...the up keep is crazy expensive. Cheers to you sir for having the opportunity to own such a nice car, to being realistic enough to know when to call it a day, and to owning such a nice bike

had a 993 for a few years... great car, but they are so hard to setup and maintain properly.

The boxster is a fun car to drive!

How much do you think you'll get for your 911?

I've had many Porsches. Luckily I also have a close friend who has been my Porsche mechanic for the last 20 years. I had a black 84 cab too. I never had the problems you talk about but then maybe I was just lucky. Are the rocker panels rotted? Do you have the correct wheels? The air cooled Porsches don't have A/C, just an A/C switch. The heaters are a joke as well. They were never intended to have creature conveniences, just great handling and the most fun car to drive.

Hope you get the 12K. Down here you can get a mint one for less ( a lot less in this economy). Doesn't mean you won't get it though (the P.T. Barum factor still lives on).

Would you not consider a s2000 or do you want to stay loyal to the Porsche brand? Some of the Honda s2000's give boxsters a run for their money!

Miss my '84 Cab. Great car. I bought it with 60K on the clock and it always did everything perfectly... until a clueless individual turned left in front of me and it was totaled

Good luck with the sale and the Boxster!
