Gasket, Exhaust Pipe C (11009-1667) fell apart? Replacement options?
When I took my muffler off yesterday, the gasket just fell out and I noticed it was in pretty bad condition. I can't even mount the muffler anymore with the gasket because of the deterioration.
This is the part: http://www.cmsnl.com/products/gasket...e-c_110091667/ Do I need to buy an OEM one or are there cheaper replacements? Also, where exactly does the gasket go? I never saw it before it fell out yesterday. Thanks. |

I think you're probably stuck with OEM gasket unless you can find gasket of similar size that'll fit at the auto parts store.

Would there be any damage done if I rode without the gasket?

Other than the sound of a leaking exhuast, I think you should be okay while you wait for a new gasket to come in. I'm not sure how much the of the exhaust is being shield with the gasket. You could get some exhaust wrap or exhaust patch tape from the auto store for the time being.

I had this happen on my r6 the other day, I used some rtv high temp liquid silicon gasket for the time being ($5 at wally world, clicky clicky) and it seems to have worked. I had a bad exhaust leak and now I don't feel it leaking at all. I'm hoping for it to be a permanent fix but my hopes aren't too high and It takes 24 hours to cure too.
I started my bike up after it cured and it sounded a lot more throaty than before so I knew right away that it worked. I turned def after reving my bike with my head right next to it checking for leaks lol.

I've used high temp rtv before on my car with good results. Not so great if you want a 100% watertight seal IMO, but for exhaust it would do the trick.
If it were me I'd buy the OEM part and ride with the leak until it came in. |
