When people walk over to ask about the bike...
They usually start a general conversation about motorcycles with a question like: Is that pretty quick? or That's a nice looking bike! About half the time though, as the conversation progresses, they'll ask 'is that a 600?' or 'how big is the engine?' They are always shocked when I tell them it's a 250. I usually use it as an opportunity to sing the praises of the lowly Ninja 250 (great handling in the twisties, stable highway speed, Kawi top seller, affordable, etc). More than one has commented that they want one.
I find that this motorcyle starts more conversations than any I have owned yet. More often than not when when I'm in a parking lot, someone wants to talk about it. What do strangers say to you when you're on your Ninja? |

Guy came up to me at the gas station thursday and asked if it was the new 250, talked for few minutes and we both had to go, liked what he saw and was impressed.

Only a few comments so far, most of them just "what year is that bike?" (probably something to do with the fact that it looks the same as the '88s! ). Only one worth going into detail about was at a gas station. I was sitting waiting for some friends in a little SUV picking up some other people. A group of bikers shows up and says, not in so many words, that I can ride with them if I want, "even with your little 250." Of course, the other bikes in the group were 2 R6s, a GSX-R 1000, and 3 cruisers, all at least 800cc each. So technically, saying "little 250" definitely made sense. Still kinda ruffled my feathers though! Almost seemed like they thought I was less of a biker because I had less horsepower!

I have gotten lots of good responses from just random people. One of my co workers actually came out and looked at it and he loved it, he wants to get one now.. too bad he'll end up getting a slower blue one. lol

Yeah everyone seems to think they're 600s. I got into a long argument with my friend who swore up and down that it was a 600...I didn't have the internet handy so we just wound ur agreeing to disagree. He still thinks its a 6.

i'm usually asked what kind of bike she is cuz i dont have any emblems anywhere, and some are suprised to find its a 250. the conversation usually goes 2 ways from here:
1 - they are aware of this cycle's merits, and chime in praises 2 - they speak about more power and their friends larger bikes the conversation gets interesting when i mention that i've sized down, previously owning a 700 'ceptor... some are all 'huh?' others are all 'hmmm...' me!?, i just wanna

I came out of a store yesterday that was next to a skateboard park and found two skateboarders standing next to my bike. As I got closer I realized they were taking pictures of it with a cell phone. High praise indeed.

Most of the time they look at the bike first then stare at me as I gear up and get on... I guess I leave them speechless. (and I am not vain enough to think it is because I am good looking. I believe this is due to the fact that I am, indeed, a Unicorn [reference from other thread] )

One way I handle the questions about my Ninja: when they ask what size, how many cc's, etc. I just tell them it's a quarter litre bike. Most of them can't do the math to figure out it's a 250 until after I'm long gone

After people tell me what a good looking buke I have they ask what size it is. When I tell them it is a 250 they say "Wow it looks alot bigger".

The most common comment is "get rid of the kiddie bike and get a real machine..."
My response is simple: "Does your real machine get 58mpg city? Didn't think so..." Usually shuts them up pretty quick. BTW: their "Real Machine" usually costs around $50K, uses an entire city block to turn...oh and generally has been owned for 3-5 years and might have 1500 miles on the clock... |

most people say nice bike, experienced riders can usually tell its a 250 by looking at the rear tire. Never had a anyone comment on it being bad cause its 1/4 liter.

After about 900 miles: No comments so far, other than my friends saying it doesn't look capable of safely navigating the interstate.
I saw another '08 250 the first day I ever rode and we both said 'nice bike' to each other.

Well I purchased my Ninja for a few reasons....one - it's fun, two - looks great, three - great gas mileage, and four - to be able to be out in public without people asking me a gazillion questions about my other ride (the Spyder). So yeah... what I do I get? About as much attention as I get on the Spyder. So much for wanting to be less consipicious.
I also get guys just staring at me probably cuz I am a little petitie girl on a sport bike. I guess it's a turn on??

I got mine on the freeway for the first time on Saturday and I have to say that I was impressed on how well it did. I was climbing a pretty nice grade on the freeway doing about 72ish with no problem. The hubby, on the Rebel, called me on the two-way and asked me to back off the throttle so he could catch up. LOL!!!

A guy at my church who likes bikes swore up and down that it was a 600. He was shocked when I told him it was a 250.
Also, my pastor used to ride back in the day when he lived in Cali. I gave him the keys and he zipped around the parking lot for a while. When he finally came back he had a big grin on his face. Said it made him want a bike again (though highly, highly unlikely he'd actually get one).

They usually stop there tracks and stare at me. When I take my helmet off and shake off my long black hair with a matching red streak, one responded, look at the chinese girl on the rice rocket LOL I get it more from men, and women are either intimidated or either say" go girl !!! " With the two brothers throaty muffler, I think everyone thinks I'm riding the 6. Cuz I'm so tiny I make the bike look big! LOL
